New kitten not eating, not drinking..normal or sick?

My brother got his gf a kitten. She has cats at home (shes at college now). My mom took care of it for 3 days before giving it to her and the kitten was fine. Now all of a sudden, the kitten wont eat, wont drink, wont go to the bathroom. She seems very lethargic when she was so playful here.

My mom told them to keep it in confined spaces to start out..but they didnt listen and let her roam the house (while they were at home). Did anyone experience this with their kittens? Is it normal? Like an adjustment period? Any ideas what to do or not do? Or does it sound like she may be sick? We never had cats, more of dog people..so we arent sure what to tell her. Thanks!

I would take the kitten to the vet asap.

Thanks ladies.

Apparently, she changed her food. She was eating Iams at the ASPCA and my mom fed her the same when she came home. She was also eating inside her crate, as the aspca advised they do this for a while since thats what they are used to from being there.

She fed her Friskies and she didnt like it. She kept trying and finally went back to the IAMS and she ate. She was also feeding her outside the crate and once she put her in a smaller spot, she started eating. She seems good as of now, she drank and peed as well, THANK GOD! Thanks again!

I just wanted to update and ask for some prayers. The kitten apparently had a twisted intestine for some reason. She was in major pain but never cried or showed it (besides not eating or going to the bathroom). My brother brought her back to the ASPCA where they performed surgery on her to "unkink" the intestine. They had to remove a piece and resection it and they waited and watched her the next 24 hours. She was doing so well...until this morning...they gave her another ultrasound to find out that it had twisted up again and they are performing yet another surgery. They say this is extremely rare and dont know why its happening. Right now she is in critical condition..they are seeing if she improves through the night and if not, they will have to put her down. The whole family is broken hearted even though we didnt know her long. Its just so sad..shes such a beautiful, sweet little thing and my brother had such a sweet heart to try to make his gf happy. Its just unreal. So if you can say an extra prayer for this precious little cat, I would be more than grateful! Thanks!
