New kitten will NOT go in the litter

What is the deal? He is isolated to the bathroom because of worms and we put a food tray in there (smaller than a litter box) with litter in there but he goes on the tile floor instead What is going on? Is this a bad sign? How do I teach him? I have just put him in it and made him stand there for several seconds but he jumps right out and has no clue what it's for!

I would ask your vet maybe it has something to do with the worms causing him to have issues. I was also told they usually don't like to eat where they go potty. I found that out when I first got my kitty. But I would call the vet just to be sure everything is fine he might be still adjusting to the new environment too. Good luck!!

Did the kitty ever use the litter box for you? Is this a change -- or has she been refusing to use it since she arrived?

How big is the bathroom? If it's small, she may not like the close proximity of the litter box to the rest of her living space. (just a thought...)

It could also be that she's still not feeling so well with the worms / meds.

Have you put him in the litter and actually done the scratching motion with his paw? We litter trained 7 kittens over the past few weeks, and they all got it pretty quickly.

I would move the litter box as far as possible from the food...
He also just might not like the litter you have, have you tried switching brands? SOme kitties don't like the feel of certain litters on their paws.
