new mom BF/spitting up question...
...those who BF, did your DC spit up a lot when they were little? my DS is almost 6 weeks old and has been spitting up despite good burps during and after feeding---not at every feeding, but probably after about 4 feedings/day. He also seems so gassy&irritable after he eats, Im wondering if its related to something Im eating. I know spitting up is normal, I just thought it would be less. He is making plenty of wet diapers, so I think he is getting enough, but I just wanted to see if this was normal or if there were any other suggestions to help! TIA!

Re: new mom BF/spitting up question...
if you are bf'ing you should def avoid gassy foods because it can affect him too. as long as DC is gaining weight the spitting up shouldn't be a prob. but if he seems overly fussy/uncomfy you may want to mention to the pediatrician so they can make sure its not acid reflux

I EBF and my DS is a spitter. The Ped said it was fine if he was not uncomfortable and gaining weight.

Re: new mom BF/spitting up question...
I dont have any suggestions but I had the same.
DS spits up a TON. I BFed for 3 months then switched to formula. Same spit up either way. I also tried soy, and still, same amount of spit up. I go thru about 3 or 4 receiving blankets a day (i use them as burp cloths).
Dr said to me that its nothing to worry about if he doesn't seem to be in pain and if he is gaining weight normally (he is). I was feeding up to 8oz at one point and he had me reduce it to 6oz but he still spits up from one bottle to the next (over a 4hr period).
DS is now almost 6 mos and its gotten much better in the last 2 weeks. I'm hoping very soon he will outgrow it!!
ETA: its also a tiny bit better after introducing cereal

Re: new mom BF/spitting up question...
I found having my DS sit in his bouncer after a feeding or in his jumperoo to help him. (roughly for 30 mins)
To me it seemed if I layed him down or if he was sitting and leaned forward for a toy and was pushing on his stomache he would spit up a lot.
