New mom here to baby Elaina
Hi all:
I have been following all your advice from this site since the day I found out I was pregnant last July 2006. I have finally decided to join and introduce myself. I had my baby girl elaina rose on March 31, 2007 (3 days late) with a 5 hour labor. She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I am so in love with her.
Since coming home on april 2, I am just feeling so overwhelmed and just need to know that I am not alone. My husband has already been to a yankees game, a lacrosse game and last night a rangers game - his life remains the same but mine has changed so much. I just don't think he realizes what it takes to care for a newborn all day and night. I need to take a shot of wine (or BIG glass) at night just to calm down all this anxiety I have.
I know I am a stranger to you all, but truly I feel like I know some of you by now based upon the experiences you have been through. It's just so nice to know that I have "support" . So I hope I'm welcomed with open arms and look to make some new friends.

Re: New mom here to baby Elaina
Welcome and congrats!!! You are most definitely wecome here! As far as your DH goes, sometimes it takes a while for it to all kick in. Why don't you leave him home with the baby one afternoon and go have lunch with the girls or go and get your nails done. You deserve a break and he needs to know just how much work it it to care for a newborn.

Congratulations on your baby girl, she is beautiful! Sorry about your DH, I would do what the pp said and leave him home for a while with the baby while you get some time for yourself, good luck!

Re: New mom here to baby Elaina
Welcome and congratulations on the birth of your beautiful daughter
Bringing baby home is so overwhelming at first, but like anything, you get used to your new life....but you have to communicate with your DH about what you are feeling and what you need from him.
It can be hard for DH's to realize all a new mother goes through because for them it is business as usual

You are definitely not alone! I am a new mom, too - gave birth to DD on 3/26/07 and have so many of the same feelings you mentioned. Hopefully we can all help each other be the best mom's we can be!
Congrats on your beautiful !!!

Re: New mom here to baby Elaina
Welcome!
Other than to echo everyone else's posts about how tough those first few months are, I suggest getting out of the house without the baby.
I remember for awhile my only "me time" was getting my hair colored once a month. Once I started making plans with other people (on & off this site), I started to feel better & more of "me" rather than a human drinking machine.
If you're not doing anything, there is a thread going around about a GTG tomorrow night if you want to jump in. Even if you come for an hour or two, I think it does wonders for new moms to get out.
Hang in there and welcome again!

Re: New mom here to baby Elaina
Congrats and welcome
As everyone said what you are feeling is completely normal. I had the baby blues pretty bad for the first 2 months after giving birth. On the weekends when my DH was home I would leave him with the baby for just a few hours to get a mani pedi, run errands, etc. which helped alot.
My DD is now 4 1/2 months and my DH has yet to spend a whole day with her. He works alot of hours but is so good with her when he is around. I still feel my life has totally changed and his really didn't as much, but honestly after 4 1/2 months its so much easier and tremendously rewarding. I can no longer imagine my life without her!!!!
It takes time to adjust. Your life will change but for the better (for both of you)
