New mommies...how long is DC sleeping?

DS is 8 weeks and he still hasn't gotten on a consistent sleeping schedule. Only once or twice has he slept for longer than 4 hours. Other than that, he usually gets up every 3-4 hours for a bottle. He's been going to bed around 10pm and won't go to sleep any earlier. He's eating between 4 and 6 ounces of formula with cereal for his reflux. I was hoping that after 3 weeks on the cereal he would sleep a bit better (as an added bonus to the cereal) but it really hasn't made a difference.

How's your DC doing?

Re: New mommies...how long is DC sleeping?

My DD started longer stretches at 6 -8 weeks. My DS was up every 3 - 4 hours until 8 weeks.

At 8 weeks I started putting my DD and DS to bed at 8pm. I figured even if they were going to wake up in 3 hours at least I had some "me" time, but they both surprised me and slept until 3am!!! Shortly after that they started 8 - 5. Now at 5 months he's finally doing 8 - 6.

Good luckChat Icon

Re: New mommies...how long is DC sleeping?

DS is 5 weeks and during the night seems to be on a 4-5 hours schedule....but that means only 3-4 hours for me at a time. For ex: if he starts his bottle at 10 but I don't get him to sleep until 11.

4 weeks, and waking every 3 hours to eat. Once and a while we get a 4 hour stretch, and other times we get a 2 hour stretch. He's eating 3-4 oz each time.

Re: New mommies...how long is DC sleeping?

dd is almost 10 weeks and still gets up every 4-5 hours...
a few times she gave me a 7 hour night of sleep!!!

dd is currently bfing - trying to get her on a bottle now...

i remember reading when i had my ds that formula vs. bfing made no differece in the amount of sleep, that the DC needs to be ready to sleep that long.

Re: New mommies...how long is DC sleeping?

My DS is 7 weeks old and I put him to bed around 8. He sleeps usually until about 1-1:30 am. However, last night, he woke at 12:30. I fed him and put him back down at 1:30 am, and he didn't wake until 6:30 instead of his uaual 5 am.

Emerson is 8 weeks old tomorrow and just this week she has started sleeping at night for stretches as long as 6hrs but at a minimum she'll go 4 1/2 hrs. During the day she goes 3 - 3 1/2 hrs between feedings. She is also awake more now during the day.

She's not really on a specific schedule though..........what time we get to bed really depends on where her last feeding falls but usually it's between 10:30 and 11pm. At this point we pretty much let her dictate the day and she sets her feeding schedule. As she starts to get a little older we'll try and schedule her feedings but right now she is still too young.

She's still on the same formula we originally started her on and she eats 4oz at each feeding. Occasionally at a feeding she may cry for another half ounce to an ounce but that's only once in a while.

DD is 5 weeks and sleeps every 3-4 hours at night. Sometimes she takes longer naps during the day from 4-5 hours. She is taking 4oz. but I will be increasing that today to 4.5oz.

Re: New mommies...how long is DC sleeping?

Each baby is different of course..

AJ is 12 weeks..

About 10 weeks she started to give us 4-5 hours of actual sleep through the night.

We never put her to bed 'early' because we are up and its the only real time Jim has with her or the only time I'll have once I go back to work too.. Chat Icon

We go to bed around 11-12 and always have so this isnt bothering us at all. We get up at 6:30 to feed our cats.

Around 10weeks she started to let us sleep until 5:45 which is a GREAT improvement over waking up at 1am and 4am.

Now she goes until nearly 8am! (today anyway)

I read somewhere not to let her sleep more than 3hours during the day, so I keep to that. I keep noise all day too with light. Even if she's napping, I keep the TV on or the radio. Only time she gets undisturbed quiet sleep is at night. It seems to have helped *shrug*

Re: New mommies...how long is DC sleeping?

Chat Icon is 7 weeks and usuallly gives us a good stretch at night. We were putting him down about 11:30 and he was sleeping until about 6:30... this week he tends to be waking up a little more often but he has also been napping right before "bed". He is not consistent enough yet to give a set amount of time.

DS is 8.5 weeks, he is still waking every 2.5-3 hours every night. he doesn't nap much during the day either. one night he gave us 5 hours but that never happened again

I am waiting for the day he sleeps longer than 3 hours!!! he is still eating 4 oz at every feeding, once in a while, he will want another two ounces
