I started the second my milk came in...born on a monday, pumping on Thursday.
I had soooooo much milk that it came out way to fast for him.
He only nursed 5 minutes a feeding anyway, so I still had tons of milk leftover.
They are capable of sucking milk that the pump is unable to get out.
eta: you can wait till he's done eating, but then that always ran into burping time for me...then I had something else to do and so on...

As far as pumping goes, I pumped every 3 hours after I was done nursing my . It helped with engorgement.
Can't help you with that peanut sling - I used the Infantino sling.

He is seriously, so handsome!!! And so alert! I think all my kids did for the first 2 weeks was sleep, I never saw their eyes!!

Welcome!!! He is adorable.
I didn't start pumping until DS was like three weeks old but I used to pump on one side for 10 minutes while he was nursing on the other side.

Julz he is BEAUTIFUL..I pumped three times a day, morning, afternoon and evening. He only ate on one side per feeding but I always pumped both sides for 15 minutes.
