New mommy needs help/advice re:breastfeeding

My son is 2.5 weeks old and wants to bf literally all day long. He will eat and fall asleep and as soon as I put him down be up screaming for food 15 mins. later. I have been trying to pump as well so that some of these feedings could be given by others, but I am not getting enough. I only get like 1 oz. total from both breasts and its hard to find time to pump at all.

Any tips/advice are greatly appreciated. I would like to be able to exclusively pump eventually. I just don't know how to get there.

For the first 6 weeks...that's what my life was. Just when you can't take it anymore, they start to go a little longer.

I always got the most of our my boobs in the middle of the night.

I would drink a ton of water...give baby last feeding...take a shower...then pump for 15 minutes.

Drink more water, pump again, 15 minutes in the middle of the night.

good luck!

i know it is easier said then done, but just take it one day at a time... it does get a lot easier... when DD would fall asleep on the boob i would tickler her ear or her feet to get her going again...

When my DS fell asleep at the boob, I would change his diaper after I nursed on one side. It would wake him and I would nurse on the other side.

If you are looking to increase milk supply, here is what worked for me.
1. Lots of water
2. Fenugreek supplements
3. Oatmeal
4. Root beer (LC say to use non-alcoholic beer but root beer worked for me)

Hope that helps. DS is now almost 7 mths old and weaned himself at 5 mths. It was hard in the beginning but I began to cherish it as our time together. I miss those days....enjoy your time with DC.
