New Mommy Question...
Hey Ladies! I'm new here ... I recently moved over from the preggo board with my new who is 12 days old.
My question is this: I've been formula feeding him Enfamil Lipil since birth and he's been gassy/fussy in between feeds and straining HARD to poop. And when he finally does go, it's hard, clay-like. Last night he threw up 2x after his feeds and DH went to buy Nestle Good Start instead.
Has anyone else had this problem with Enfamil? Should the Good Start change help? How soon will I know if it does??
TIA.

Re: New Mommy Question...
My SIL had this problem with my nephew. He ended up being allergic to the formula. She had to use nutramigen.

Re: New Mommy Question...
I had a problem and switched to Gentlease and it helped a lot. I would talk to your ped before switching. They might have to try something different then what you would think.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just called my Ped and she said I did the right thing. She would have suggested Good Start or Gentlease. Now I just have to wait 3 days to see if it helps.
Thanks again!!

Re: New Mommy Question...
I've never used Enfamil. We've used Similac with DS and switched to the Sensitive formula. It helps his gas, but he still poops irregularly (though it's soft for the most part).
Talk to your ped. though. He may not be reacting well to the formula at all, esp. if he is throwing up.
Good luck

Re: New Mommy Question...
My son had that issue at that time. The Ped told us to give him 1 oz of water a day. It helped and we stopped after about 2 weeks.

Re: New Mommy Question...
We changed DS to Good Start from Similac at around 4 weeks for similar reasons. He was so uncomfortable from the gas with Similac. However it took more than a week to really see a big difference in him. Our ped had recommended that we ease him into it for 2 days mixing formula and then give it at least a week.
One thing and I dont know if its just my son but he spits up more on this formula, but he is MUCH less gassy and easily passes his gas now.
