new mommy question

my little guy has been miserable the last 2 days, screaming his little head off Chat Icon, he is NEVER like this .. I thought it was because he kept getting woken up during his naps ((things were so loud)), and I felt awful for that... He gave me two 5 hour stretches, plus one 3 hour stretch last night.. usually I get a 5 and a 3 hour, so I just assumed maybe he was still tired.

Anyways, I just changed him, and his diaper was an awful green, and was full of mucus Chat Icon I don't know what the mucus means, if I need to take him to the ped. or what? Any advice I greatly appreciate

Re: new mommy question

Are you formula feeding? If so I'd ask the Dr to change it

I was going to say the same thing. Could be an intolerance. Screaming could have been constipation/backed up by gas. Is his stomach hard?

Yes I am FF, but he's been on this one ((similac sensitive)) for about 2 months and is doing great up until this..

his stomach was hard, and after I changed him he is back to his old self, smiling and giggling.. can mucus be from constipation? what i read online was a milk intolerance, but thats why he is on similac sensitive

Similac Sensative still has milk proteins in it. He may need a soy based formula. Also are you using powder or RTF? I ask because my son is on sensative, he does great on the ready to feed, but if I use the powder he screams, has a lot of gas and has mucus filled stools.

Re: new mommy question

My DD was constipated once and all that came out was small rabbit turd looking stool drops, nothing mucosy or green. So it doesn't sound like constipation in my experience, to be honest.

How long is this going on? Some days DDs poop is different than other days, I dont know why either.

Re: new mommy question

thanks ladies Chat Icon Chat Icon

to answer questions, he is on powder, but been on it for 2 months and never had a problem before. this was his first mucus stool, but hes been crying bad for 2 days ((today being the 2nd))

I called the ped. he said not to worry now, but if has blood or becomes watery to bring him in.

I just wish I could help him, I feel so bad for my little man. but I do think he may be constipated, because when i rub his belly now he stops crying, so hopefully he poops again soon Chat Icon

and again thank you all so much!

Re: new mommy question

Similac Sensitive made DS extremely constipated. He did fine on it for a little while but it eventually caught up with him. I ended up switching him to the Nestle Good start and he only does well with the RTF. I don't recall ever having a mucousy stool though Chat Icon
