New Moms-- Your post-partum body...

Im 7 weeks post partum and I cant fit into my pre-preggo pants yetChat Icon Im trylu starting to get frustrated. I wear sweats in the house, if we go out I wear my maternity jeans. I cant get my old jeans to button up.. there is about a 2-3 inch space that wont close!!Chat Icon

I hate wearing my maternity jeans, they fall down and they're annoying. I dont want to buy new jeans cause then I just wont loose this friggen weight. I feel like all my shirts cling to me and show my belly fat.

I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy... I lost 30, I am still +10lbs though. I guess I just wanna know if anyone else is in the same boat as me?

How many weeks post-partum are you?
How long did it take until you fit into your regular jeans again? I feel like my body will never go back to how it was. My hubby tells me "oh it hasnt even been 2 months" but then my mom tells me she fit into her pre-preg jeans 6 days post-partumChat Icon so how long does it take???

Everyone is different. I never got back into my jeans after DS. I got pg with DD, and now 4.5 months PP I'm still not close to wearing those jeans.

Re: New Moms-- Your post-partum body...

I'm nearly a year PP and going to sell my pre-pregnancy jeans since I will never, ever, comfortably fit into my Size 26 Sevens. Ever.

I've come to terms with it.

I'll be honest, it took me 9 months (no diet or exercise) to get to my pre PG weight after DS1. But I was never back to my pre PG size - my body just shifted all over the place.

You're only 7 wks PP. Give yourself time. Chat Icon

I was able to fit into a couple of pairs of my jeans 2 weeks PP, but there are a couple that were not and still do not fit and I am almost 1 yr PP now. Why not buy a couple of pairs that fit you now?

All summer I would get down on myself for still being in maternity clothes and I'd read threads on here about being back in maternity clothes immediately after. I didnt get back into my regular jeans until 3 weeks ago (around 14 weeks PP!) so give it some time. I'm finally starting to look like myself again and I still have 7lbs to go to PP weight. But I know I got there after DC#1 and I'm working hard to get there again and you will too Chat Icon Chat Icon

DD is 2m and I am still up 20lbs, better than the 40 I gained with her! LOL

20lbs isnt horrible but I went from a size 4 to a size 12!

I walk every single day. I BF. I try to eat healthy but I am A L W A Y S hungry.

I gave in a few weeks ago and went to Target and Macy's. I spent about $300 and got a nice fall wardrobe. I feel a million times better now! Now, when I run out of the house instead of sweats I am in leggings with a tunic and flats - and I feel pretty and better about myself. I will lose the weight, but I don't have to be miserable until I do so!

Plus, I am trying to enjoy the bigger boobies!

PS There is always going to be that woman who walked out of the hospital in her pre pregnancy clothes. There is nothing we can do about that, just try not to compare yourself to other people and wish horrible skin on her

Give yourself time and a break! You are only 7 weeks PP!

I am 7 months PP and I finally fit into some of my pre-preggo jeans but I have muffin top. I keep reminding myself that this is a marathon, not a race. And these jeans aren't even the jeans I want to fit in! It took you 9 months to put it on, so don't beat yourself up that it is not off! Chat Icon

Re: New Moms-- Your post-partum body...

It took nine months for your body to get that way it may take just as long or longer to get back to normal. with my first, I lost all the weight a few months PP but my body shape was different. It was close to a year before I fit back into all my clothes. I bought a few pieces to get me by and slowly things started to fit. I am three months PP with my second and still in the clothes I bought after my first was born.

I was able to fit into my PP jeans about a week later BUT my body is so different (flabbier) now and 6 months after delivering, I'm back to my PP weight but my body doesn't feel or look the same.

Re: New Moms-- Your post-partum body...

Do yourself a favor and get a pair of transition jeans. They will make you feel so much better about your body and you will start to see them get baggy!

I am the same as you- gained 40, lost 30 in 2 weeks. The last 10 did not start budging until around 4.5 months PP. My DS is now almost 5.5 months and I still have 8 to go. I can button my pre-pregnancy pants but there is chunk hanging out the sides- ugh! I bought a pair of curvy gap jeans one size higher than my normal and they have been awesome! They are now starting to get really loose on me, so I think I'm finally starting to come down in size.

I'm BFing, so for me I'm convinced that I will not lose all the weight until I stop. My body will just not let me and I can't diet because it causes a big dip in my supply. So if that's the case than I'll just wait until I'm done to loose the weight- more important for me to feed DS than to loose it.

Good luck!!!

well, I am also pushing a year and though I am about 5 lbs off my pre preggo weight and am fitting into some of my pre preggo clothes, I am still 15 lbs heavier than my comfort zone, and right now everything is still bigger. boobs, hips...you name it.

I went back to work at 6 weeks and my son still does not sleep through the night so starting my old running routine has been a dream deferred. and since I am nursing, I can't do all out and diet either (though I hate dieting anyway. Id' rather eat, then run. literally)

but what Tilde said is exactly correct. everyone's body and situation is different.

take care of yourself. don't eat **** food and be sedentary, but don't put too much pressure on yourself either. it is still very early in the game. Chat Icon

I could have written this.
I'm 7 weekday post too. I'm only 5 pounds over my prepregnancy weight, but I have 10 pounds to lose over that to get to my normal weight.
I'm just not buying anything. I hear it's 6 to 9 months to get back a smaller belly due to a smaller uterus.

I still have 10 lbs to lose from when I was pregnant with DS 2 years ago. I don't know if I'll ever lose it. I just gave away all my old clothes. It's an excuse for a whole new wardrobe Chat Icon

Same here- I fit in them like a week later I think- but my stomach seemed looser or something.
It all went back to normal though.
Everyone is different- just buy some inexpensive jeans to get you through- Target has nice ones for cheap!

Re: New Moms-- Your post-partum body...

I was back to my old shape at around 9-10m pp. I had a rough pregnancy because I had morning sickness the whole time and didn't gain that much weight. I had a ravenous appetite during breastfeeding. Once I stopped breastfeeding at around 8 months, I lost the last few stubborn pounds and actually liked my figure again. I did a lot of shopping for new clothes then.

Now I'm 16 weeks pregnant and back to my maternity jeans.

15 months post -partum, and about 20 lbs less than prepregnancy weight, but some of my old clothes just don't fit the same. My body is different. I went out, and bought some new clothes. I was getting so upset with how my body looked, that I had to at least dress for what my body is now.

I'm 41 weeks pp and I still have 15-20 lbs to go. I gained 50) I started with WW and it was just so easy the last time I did it and now I'm finding it harder.

I went out and bought a bunch of things size medium - figuring I could wear them now and afterwards. I also went and bought a few pairs of inexpensive pants from Old Navy and Kohls for now.

I gained about 45 lbs. I worked out like crazy and pumped and had lost all the weight 8 weeks post partum, but I would say things didn't start fitting like they used to until almost a year after I gave birth! It was very frustrating for me...I understand how you feel, but it just takes time.

Re: New Moms-- Your post-partum body...

FWIW, I am 11.5months PP and still up 5-10lbs but am now fitting into my regular pants. I have done NOTHING to lose the weight, no diet, no exercise and I still managed to get my prepreggo body back minus extra flab and a muffin top that probably go away if I did a sit up or two...Chat Icon 7weeks PP I was not even close to fitting into prepreggo pants. Same for 7 months PP. Dont stress - you'll get your body back eventually.
