new neighbors are driving us crazy VENT

the house directly behind us has been rented out approx 6 times in the 7 years we have been here. People come and go from this house and im convinced its haunted My house is the only house on their block facing directly in front of it.
Anyway we got new neighbors once again a month ago. They are the worst of the worst. the first Sunday they moved in music started blasting at midnight.i said ok they are prob moving furniture etc. well 1am rolls around and theres screaming outside - along with the music still blasting. People were very obviously drunk. I told dh not to go outside bc u dont know who these ppl are and to just call the cops. Well the cops came abt 45 min later (mind u this is now 1:45 am) and the music is still BLASTING. The woman who answered the door told the cops she was sorry and it was her sons 18th birthday.
every night they turn the music on but it comes off around 11 1130. Not that i have anything against rap music (i personally dont like it) but OMG thats all they play and its LOUD they must have speakers the size of mattresses LOL.
Anyway last thursday dh and i are awoken to the noise of music banging and a car honking over and over. I said thats it im going. So we go a kid opens the door and says theres no adults (hes a teenager) and they are sorry the music is so loud - it wouldnt happen again. Great right? Well last night again. woken up at 1230 am again. Music blasting. I said this is crazy im going there and speaking to an adult. I walk over and the smell of pot is thruout the whole block. I dont care what ppl do in their house but it concerns me that theres people in and out of that house only at night .. i live in a nice neighborhood i dont want some drug dealers living right behind me. anyway another kid opened the door and i said i want to speak to an adult. he said no ones here. I said find someone NOW bc this is out of control with this music and the smell of pot. He said his FATHER ZONES out in the garage listening to music and getting high. Dh said thats it im calling the cops. All of a sudden the music stopped and the kid begged us not to call the cops.
I want to go over there today in the morning and wake their a$$es up like they wake mine up at night.
What would u say to them? im constantly talking to a kid. Cant get any adults. I dont know who lives there. Also is there a way to find out the landlords phone number? i dont know his name but is there a way to find out who the house owner is by the address?

OMG what a mess!!!

I, personally, am too much of a chicken to recommend going over there. We had a very similar neighbor at my parents house for about 18 years...he was a filthy, music blasting drinker & drug addict & he was physically abusive to people (incl. his girlfriends & the cops) so I always avoided confrontations with him, opting to call the cops & the town regularly instead.

I think that locating & calling his landlord is an excellent idea. Perhaps the direct neighbors to these jerks would be able to put you in contact with him or at least give you a name. I would also try a reverse lookup by address

EHHH just checked no number for them listed. Nothing at all. They are the only house on that block. NOt even my house is listed on that block bc the front of my house faces another block - the other 2 neighbors are the same.

I definately agree with contacting the landlord- the town office should be able to give you the name of whoever owns the property.

In the meantime, keep calling the cops everytime something happens

So Sorry you are going through this I agree that you should find contact info on the LL. I would also avoid confronting them any further. I think the next time they are being disruptive and you call the police they should be able to tell you who the home owner is. If that does not work you could always contact town hall to find out who owns the property.Also, maybe one of the other neighbors have contact info for the LL. I can't imagine any of them being happy with this situation either...........GL

The home owners info can be found out by tax lot number at the town assessors office. You know your tax lot number since you own your house. Go to the town building department and ask to see the tax lot map for your area. On the map you can get the tax lot number of the house in question. Then take that number to the assessors office. There you can look up the owner using the lax lot number. I have to do this whenever I do a radius map for work. It is all public knowledge. They can't deny you the information. If they give you a problem just say you are doing an addition and need to notify the home owners of the adjacent properties. If you have any questions fm me

Ugh! What a shame I'd still try talking to the other neighbors to see if they know the landlord. Even if they don't, chances are that they're fed up too & would be willing to back you when you do finally get in contact with him.

The tax lot idea that Dee mentioned is a great one - I'd probably do that next myself. Good luck!

Wow, sorry you are going thru this. It's a lot to deal with especially getting woken up in the middle of the night when most people have work the next day. I'm sure its quite aggravating to say the least.

Unfortunately in this case, it sounds like the apple doesnt fall too far from the tree if the kid is telling you his Father zones out in the garage. They are what they learn........

I guess I'd continue to call the cops. If you end up speaking to an adult........the adult may honestly not give a $hit! And if the owner of the house is contacted.......as long as he is getting his money every month....he may not give a $hit either since he don't live there.

There HAS to be some sort of limit on how many times they're willing to go over there before slapping them w/ a fine or SOMETHING ...........No ??

Ask one of the neighbors if THEY have the LLs name and number. I know a few of mine do. Good luck.

Am I correct that you didn't call the cops when the father was getting high in his garage and blasting his music? Why WOULDN'T you call the cops? I wouldn't care if the kid begged me, I would be calling the cops ASAP.

I would continue calling the cops every time there is a disturbance and I would stop going over there yourself.

I also agree that I would try to find out the LL's number to report this to him.

i would definitely call the cops next time you smell the pot.. the cops might take it a bit more seriously, and at least they'll get a fine, or even arrested.
Might make them think twice about doing it again at least.
If you do find out the landlords name and can contact them.. i'd mention the pot smoking also. He may not want anyone doing illegal activity in his house and can kick them out

My parents have very RUDE neighbors as well. One Christmas while I was still living there I had HAD it. Christmas Eve they were up to all hours blasting their music. I think it finally shut off at 3am. (Mind you I had asked them if they could just lower the music a bit because it was late.) I know this wasn't the nicest thing to do, but I just had to do it. My bedroom was next to the master bedroom so I turned my bose wave radio towards them, turned up the volume and put on my White Zombie CD while we opened presents Christmas morning.

If this kid told you this stuff, can you call ACS?

I would also look into the noise ordinance laws.
