New Retaining Wall Photos
My husband did this over the course of about a week. He had a little help with the cap because we don't own a masonry saw, but otherwise he did it all on his own! I think it looks great!
Digging it out:
Add the stones for drainage
The sand for leveling
And then build the wall
Got some help shoveling the 2 yards of dirt we had delivered from my SIL
Finished with a Japanese maple, moved the Never Die, and added the purple thing at the end, which I can't remember the name of.
We had bought some petunias and blue hawaii flowers for the front beds so we just filled in with them here for this year. Next year we hope to get a few more flowering plants too.
Thanks for looking!

Re: New Retaining Wall Photos
That looks awesome!
Ok, I have a few questions if you don't mind....!
First off, did he put any mortar or anything in between the stones? Or did he just stack them once they were level?
Second... Where did you get that rock with the quote? I've been looking for something like that! Honestly, we have so many rocks in our landscape, I was considering trying to do it myself. But I don't know if it would just fade or wash off if I don't put something over the marker.
Thanks! He did a great job.

No morter in between the stones. Each stone has a locking lip on it. You need a masonry chisel to knock off the lip on the first layer of stone, but then after that you just lock each one into place. Same for the cap stone on top. You do have to use masonry glue though to glue the cap on, but it has a locking lip on it.
I can't help with the rock - that was a gift from a retreat I did a few years ago.

Thank you! Last question... Where did you get the stones? I've never seen that in my local Lowes.
