New Years Eve Menu ideas?
We are having a get together for NYE and I'm trying to plan our menu. I want to enjoy myself and not stress about burning things and cooking lol BUT I like to make my own stuff and not just buy everything either. I was thinking maybe order a hero and then make a pasta and some apps. Pretty sure I want to do a baked clam dip and spinach dip. Thoughts or menu ideas? It looks like there will be 8 adults and 7 kids. TIA!
Edited to add potential menu below...

We love apps for NYE parties. I think that is perfect. Finger food and easy to eat are fun. Maybe for the kids you can do pizza bagels, chicken skewers, moz sticks, etc. You can do a baked ziti as a side too. You can make it earlier in the day and just put it in the oven when guests arrive. mini hot dogs lots of chips and dips, hummus veggie platter
plenty of drinks

OK, after thinking about this for days (I always overthink menus and have way too much food but the Greek & Italian in me has to overdo it lol) Here's my plan as of now:
- veggies & pita chips with tzatziki sauce - spinach pie bites - pepperoni/salami/cheese/cracker platter - tostitos with salsa, queso & guacamole - shrimp cocktail - pigs in a blanket - mozzarella sticks - tossed chopped salad with creamy balsamic - grilled chicken wraps - eggplant/roasted veggie wraps - crockpot sweet & sour meatballs - penne alla vodka

New Years Eve Menu ideas?
^^^^ I want to go to these parties!
OP, definitely all apps. I wouldn't do a hero and pasta, personally.

See, I keep debating because they will be over early so I feel like I need it to be substantial enough for dinner and I know the kids will eat the pasta (my kids fave).

I think that sounds great! I would be a happy guest for sure! Maybe a tray of chicken nuggets for the kids though.

Re: New Years Eve Menu ideas?
I prefer apps. Im so tired of eating heavy meals (pasta bread meat) this entire month. IMO we all overeat way too much and it gets old.
I love food but I prefer to nosh and focus on my drinks on NYE lol.

Re: New Years Eve Menu ideas?
We are having
chicken wings fried calamari chips & dip ordering 4 different pizza pies Green salad 5ft Italian hero macaroni salad potato salad fruit salad oreo cheesecake
Also I am making sangaria.
I know it sounds like a lot of food but usually everyone eats again around 10pm lol so the hero always goes. The pizza is mostly for the kids.

Yes, me too lol. Too much food means I get too full and can't drink, I hate that lol. I at least like to get my buzz and then chow down

Yes! I agree, there's always a round 2 if you start early enough.

Re: New Years Eve Menu ideas?
I'd love to do an all apps evening, but DH wants a dinner.
So, dinner will be a fresh ham, mashed garlic potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts with pancetta, roasted string beans with shallots, red cabbage. I'm letting my oven do the work instead of me.
Haven't decided on apps yet, most likely shrimp cocktail, a meat/cheese/cracker platter, spinach dip, and whatever else catches my eye while shopping.
Dessert will be a cookie plate, cheesecake or a fruit tart, and Italian pastries.
