Newborn feeding question - crying throughout?
DS is 10 days old and it seems like he's having trouble eating. He'll eat veeeery slowly and crying frequently throughout it. When I try to burp him, he's screaming like he's in so much pain. Sometimes he burps, but sometimes he doesnt. But even after he burps, he crys throughout the feeding.
Is this normal or should we look into changing the formula or bottles? He's using Enfamil Premium LIPIL powder and drinking from the playtex drop-ins. I just feel like the bottles arent right...he seems like he struggles to get the formula from the bottle, feedings take 20 - 30 minutes, and he seems gassy. I dont know whether its the bottle or the formula??

dd did the same thing, she was always crying. we went through like 5 formulas but the drop ins just didnt work for her.. were now using dr.browns and shes doing great with them!... she still has gas but its not half as bad.
i would try changing the bottles before changing the formula.

ITA. Also, can you lie DS on his back at all? or does he scream then as well? We ended up having issues with formula and reflux but we had to rule other things out first

what level nipple are you using? DD started with a level 1 and she would scream because it was just waaaaay too slow for her and she would be frustrated. She was so much happier when we switched to a level 2

My dd did that and turned out she has Dairy protein allergy. Now that shes on elecare all good.. she just cries when Im not feeding her quick enough lol.
