Newborn night sleeping- question about day vs. night confusion
I have a 1 week old little girl. We have her currently sleeping in a bassinet next to her bed( which she doesn't like too much, but we are working on it). Our bedroom is EXTREMELY dark at night, can't see anything, so we have been keeping a small bedside light on all night long(very low light). I felt that I needed the light on both because I am a nervous first time mom and like to be able to see what she is doing, and second because she sometimes has trouble latching so I need to be able to see well to help her during feedings. Do you think that having this light on all night is going to mess with her distinction between night and day?
What do others do at night? Do you keep the room dark and just turn on the light during feeding and eating times? Do you try to keep the light off all the time? Not sure what the best strategy is.

THe light on is fine! Keep thinks quiet and dark/dim at night. During the day, turn the lights on, open the shades, turn on the tv, etc. She will learn!
