Newborn passing gas ?
Gianna doesnt poop everyday. The pedi said it is normal for a newborn to go only every few days. It only becomes a concern when they dont eat or seem to be in pain or have hard poop. Gianna has none of those problem. However, she passes gas and stinks to high he!!. I mean really stinky. I am always checking her diaper b/c I think she pooped. Gianna was started on Similac in the hospital and it seems to be working fine. Anyway, my pedi is a huge supporter of Enfamil. Even with my DS he wanted me to switch, yet AJ had no problems at all with Similac. So now I am not sure if this passing gas thing is normal or not and I dont want to call the pedi b/c I know he is going to say switch to Enfamil. I have had 4 other pedi's tell me there is no difference between Similac & Enfamil...it is like coke vs pepsi. I hate not feeling comfortable with calling my pedi but I also dont want to get into it with him regarding switching or not to switch. Any suggestions?

Re: Newborn passing gas ?
Hey DEB!
Ok, first, I want pics of GIANNA!
Second, I do hear the same that Similac vs Enfamil, exact same thing but didnt name.
Could it just be the formula itself...maybe she needs something gentle for her tummy???

Re: Newborn passing gas ?
Hey Deb!! I did notice that when Reilly was on the Advance ES she had very stinky farts. Now that she is on the Sensitive RS her passing gas episodes are fewer and they are definitely not as smelly. Her poops will know your socks off though!!

Re: Newborn passing gas ?
My son has always had bad stinky farts!!! Same thing as you... used to check his diaper to see if it was poop or not. I just chalk it up to the fact that he takes after his mom!
If your dc isn't in any sort of pain, then i wouldn't switch formula's just because of smelly farts!
