Next EI meeting set up for next week... Questions.

Ok, so we have our "paperwork visit" next tuesday. Our service coordinator is coming back to the house with the therapist that has been assigned to DS.

He's going to be getting Speech and some OT (they're call it appropriate play therapy). Our ped also set up private speech and private OT at a children's rehab right around the corner from us. He had the first eval for OT and they recommended once a week for 6 months. The evaluator said he has some poor muscle tone and again has some problems with appropriate play (we went into the gym with all of the big foam play structures and he went straight to the file cabinet in the corner to open and close the drawers).

How does this work with insurance? We have a Blue Cross PPO that is being very lenient with all of the evaluations. I called to ask about referrals and they said it wasn't necessary. But at our evaluation with the private OT, she suggested looking into getting a supplemental insurance (like MassHealth, which is our version of Medicaid) to cover any additional costs for therapy.. Is this common? Do you carry supplemental insurance?

Thanks again for all the answers to my somewhat scattered and crazy questions. This whole process is so overwhelming - I hope I will eventually know what I'm talking about!!
