Re: 28 week growth sono and kicks questions???

I dunno. I'm 29 weeks and my Dr didn't mention it, but they really don't seem big on the sonos in that office. My girlfriend has a different Dr and she's always getting them done. I have an appt coming up soon. I'll see what they say, but I think different doctors like to do things differently. Good luck! =)

Re: 28 week growth sono and kicks questions???

i just had a growth sono at 30 weeks..i think its pretty standard between 28-30 weeks. then again towards the end.

i have a kick count chart the dr. gave me but i dont use it. I pretty much just keep track of when he's active vs. quiet. lately he's been kicking me all day and nite now..LOL

i would just pay attention if you notice the activity getting less when they are normall active for you.

My OB doesn't do any sonos between the 20w anatomy scan and 36 weeks unless there is reason for concern (i.e. I had one somewhere around 28w just because I was very sick/on a lot of meds & his movement decreased drastically).

I wasn't told to count kicks & I'm 34 1/2 weeks now. I agree with you - each day is so different that you could drive yourself nuts with it!

Enjoy your sono! Chat Icon

Re: 28 week growth sono and kicks questions???

I have weekly growth sonos because I am high risk, so I don't know what's normal for non- high risk.

As for counting the kicks- the high risk doc tells me only to do it if the baby doesn't move at his/her usual routine. I know my baby is very quiet during the day and moves mostly in the morning and at night. If I don't feel Chat Icon during the day I don't worry. If I don't feel Chat Icon when he's usually active, I poke and prod a bit until I get kicked back, and then I feel better.

i was told to count kicks from like 35-36 weeks on. annnnd i dont. Chat Icon is still pretty active, id definitely notice if things changed abruptly, you know?? i think 28 weeks is early to count kicks, JMO

When i see dr tomorrow i plan to ask him if this is part of their routine too (kick counts). If he says yes i will tell him i have NO plan to participate in that. I will make sure that the baby kicks each day but i refuse to count kicks. That is INSANE

I just had my 28 week appt and he did a sono but it wasnt a growth sono. He didnt say anything about counting the kicks...Chat Icon goes crazy and then stops for awhile. It would make me crazy and worried if I had to count Chat Icon
