Nice hotel in NYC for an overnight stay
I want to spend the night in NYC for my b-day in August. Any nice but not super expensive hotels you can recommend?

I have stayed at the Hilton in Times Square and by Rock Center - both were really nice. But I dont know how expensive they would be.

The W Hotels are very nice ...and there are several locations in the city. I would pick the one on 14th street. I think they aren not too expensive...average $$ for the city.
Otherwise the Hyatt next to Grand central is very nice

Westin Times Square is one of my favorites - not for the location, but bc the rooms are very big for a NYC hotel and they are are really nice.

We don't like to stay near Times Square/Theatre District. We usually stay up near Central Park. Our favorite is the Empire Hotel. Its near Lincoln Center and the park. Young and trendy and really nice lounge and rooftop bar.

Re: Nice hotel in NYC for an overnight stay
I always stay at The Hilton on 6th Ave (Ave of Americas) and 53rd.
They are reasonable and close to lots. NYC offers so many options depending on your price range and what you want out of the hotel. I've stayed at many -- if you tell me what you'd like to spend and what you want from the hotel I can probably offer you some more ideas.
An inexpensive and decent option is the Roosevelt Hotel -- just ask for a newer room if you can.
