No longer a second Beta test but a sono
My 3 day transfer is on Wednesday morning and they want me to come in for a BETA on Wednesday the 16th. I asked about the follow up BETA that Friday to see if the #'s double a few days later and the nurse said they no longer do that. Instead you come back the following week for a 5 week sonogram to see if their is a sack etc. I told her I would be out of state and would not be able to and she suggested getting a perscription for a lab that I could take with me and have them fax over the results. The thing is, since they are transferring more than one embie I hate to miss out on that sono to see if more than one took. Can I get a sono in another state? Or I was also thinking what if I went for my BETA two days earlier, then I would be able to get the sono the day I am leaving? WWYD I know I am getting ahead of myself but I have a good feeling this time around

you could know from the 2nd "out-of-state" beta if the numbers jump up massively: i.e. mine went from 1429 to 14, ___ (don't remember) in a week!

Re: No longer a second Beta test but a sono
Just wanted to say my betas were really high. Like off the charts even for triplets, and tripling instead of doubling in 48 hours, yet I'm pg with a singleton. Beta is only a indicator of a healthy pregnancy, but not necessarily how many.

i would absolutely not go by beta numbers. anything can happen. singletons can have high betas, twins can have low betas, vanishing twin...etc. honestly if it were me i wouldn't want a 5w sono at all. id rather see a heartbeat at 6w then see a sac at 5. i would just ask for two betas to make sure the #s are rising and then wait it out til you get back. good luck!

my numbers were always low and i was freaking out about them. i wouldn't go in for a sono that early because you may not se anything just because its stoo early. where as if you wait another week, you might see a sac and a heartbeat! i would just ask to come in earlier, like the last day before you go away and have your beta re-tested. you can always schedule your sono for when you come back. also, depending on your insurance, you may or may not be covered in other states. and even if you are, it may be only in case of emergency, not for a sono. Either way, i wouldn't go out of state for a sono to someone i have never heard of and whose reputation i don't know for a one time sono when it can easily be delayed for 1 week. i don't know why the nurse even mentioned that to you

Mine were also very high and I thought multiples right away but it was always only one.
