no luck with miracle blanket, swaddle me, woombie....what's next?
i swear my child just fights sleep. nothing we can do helps him sleep peacefully or for longer periods of time. he tries so hard to break free of the miracle blanket that sometimes i think that is why he is waking up. he is 7 weeks old.
i am at my wits end. the only place he sleeps well is on my dh! any advice???

to be honest, neither of my boys liked any of that stuff... jammies in the crib from day 1... they liked having their arms free...

Re: no luck with miracle blanket, swaddle me, woombie....what's next?
those gimmicky swaddle blankets where terrible for us. If DS could move even a little in a swaddle he'd fight it.
So, I used a stiff but soft flannel blaket, swaddledesigns.com, target sells them. Its all about the technique, watch some happiest baby on the block swaddling on you tube to get it right.
when he got really clever at breaking free from it, I'd use a pacifier clip, to kind if pin it at the last corner that is supposed to tuck in.
we also used white noise
Yes, swaddledesigns blanket, is really really big, but you have to fold the triangle, so that its about the same width as the length of the baby, then you have plenty of blanket to wrap very snug around the baby.
Wrap super tight, they should just barely be able to breathe. I know sounds crazy, but it works like a charm.

I agree, also have swaddle designs blanket, its my favorite. I wrap one end around like shown they use the "tail" and tie it to the other end so the knot is near his belly. I also do it tight, there is no way he can get out of it, lol. He sleeps soo much more now, also got happiest baby on the block dvd, awesome!!

ITA. The Swaddle Me was a total waste, they wouldn't get tight enough so DS would still be able to move just enough to wiggle and squirm and thus not sleep When I started swaddling with a regular blanket, I was able to tighten it enough so that he could NOT move at ALL. Sometimes I would have to swaddle him in two blankets (and just diapers underneath) just to get it tight enough for him not to move.
At about 8 weeks old, I finally felt comfortable enough to let him sleep on his belly because he was able to move his head from side to side. He started sleeping 7 hours straight after that!

Read the happiest baby on the block- it changed my life. I tried to swaddle ds but it never worked- this book explained exactly how to swaddle and put your kid to sleep and it actually worked. I know a lot of ppl swear by it.

read it and reread it. we did everything with hannah and worked like a charm.
not so much for noah....he's only 71/2 weeks so we have time. we just want to establish good habits as soon as possible.
Thanks again
