No time for the gym...where/what do you do for exercise
I am now a single mom, and I didn't make time for the gym then...and I have even less time to make for going to the gym now. With the weather getting colder and getting dark so early...what can I do for exercise? I do have a Wii fit
I really want to take the next year to work on myself...both mentally and physically. Any ideas/tip would be great!
Thanks.

What about looking into getting a DVD program like Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred? Those are short so they are easy to fit in. You can get a great workout within 25 minutes.

Definitely recommend videos - the 30 Day Shred is very good!

Re: No time for the gym...where/what do you do for exercise
I've been doing videos at night. I've been alternating between the ones on TV (Mag Rack) and taking them out of the library. Since there are so many to choose from, I'm not getting bored or tired of them.

Re: No time for the gym...where/what do you do for exercise
I do videos at night or my treadmill after DD goes to bed. sometimes I also walk the mall with DD..it's a good workout if you don't stop to look in stores and do several laps

I have two 15 minute breaks during the day and I walk during both and stretch them out to 20 minutes LOL then while watching General Hospital I do my elliptical, about a half hour there.

I still jog to the beach at the end of my block & run up & down the stairs. I bring a flashlight. It's a 'private community' so I feel safe.
To the OP - if you have stairs in your house you can run up & down them - I know it sounds stupid but my body has never been fitter from running up & down the stairs.

Re: No time for the gym...where/what do you do for exercise
My friend works full time and runs during her lunch break. She said now that it is cold, she doesn't really sweat. It's kind of gross, but if that were my only option to work out, I would totally do it.

Re: No time for the gym...where/what do you do for exercise
I would say do something in the house, I do the wii-active and it works big time for me, I have 2 children at home and have not time to get to the gym. I have lost 30 pounds since I started doing this since June. Hope this helps.

Re: No time for the gym...where/what do you do for exercise
Keep it simple. Squats, lunges, situps, push ups, dips, step ups, etc. You don't need any equipment or DVDs. Use your own body weight. Keep moving. Also, jumping rope is lots of fun and gives you time to go outside with DD

I dance to music on my chanels on my tv, if i am not in the mood for a video! I am sure I look silly, but it burns some calories and gets me sweating.

Re: No time for the gym...where/what do you do for exercise
You can get inexpensive free weights at Target or Wal-mart. You should also try the Wii boxing - it's SUCH a good cardio workout. The hula hoop on the regular Wii fit is also not bad for cardio.
I'm 5 mos pregnant and I know I wont' be able to hit the gym once little miss baby gets here so I've been planning and trying to think of ideas myself. For Christmas I asked for a bosu ball, 10 and 12lb weights, and the riser for the Wii fit board (at Toys R Us). I'm also getting the reebok step from my aunt to work on my legs and butt. If you have stairs in your house, it's a great workout to just walk up and down them over and over. We live on the second floor so I plan on putting the baby in her little seat at the top and just doing the steps for a half hour at night.
