DH took DS out tonight and left his coat on in the carseat. He had no idea! I love the idea of zipping the coat over the straps. Never thought of that. DS usually just goes without. I'll have to try that.

How can you zip around the straps?
I usually put the coat over DS like it is a blanket, he seems to like that.

EXACTLY!!! He drives me nuts when I ask him to take it off and put it on in the car.

Watch the video.  It shows how you do it ... I need to watch it a few more times to get it, though!

I didn't know it was THAT bad..
I am going to have to learn the zip over the jacket technique..
I'm really not getting it right now, I will watch the video a few more times
I actually JUST switched DS over to his winter puffy jacket today, so this was perfect timing

Okay.. I think I got it..
So the back of their jacket it sitting normally, strapped normally?
Right?
So by doing this, your just making it so that the front of the puffy jacket is not all bunched up and causing extra bulk?

I thought this too, once I got past the photos in the beginning.
I have been layering with sweaters, but after how cold it was today, I think I will try the fleece jacket and see how it goes. I'm just not sure how I am going to get a big jacket on DS once I have to take him out of the car and I just don't see me being able to thread it around him as they describe on the video.

We primarily use a bundle me... if that is in the seat we can't even loosen the straps enough to allow for a bulky coat. She does have one fleece one piece I like to use, it's no more bulky than the bundle me. She definitely would not come out of it during a crash.

This is very helpful and thank you for posting it!
One thing though, the video is advocating things I have heard are dangerous in their own way. The things they have zippered around the baby over the straps - in fact, I was told not to use the bundle me. I was told that these things make it harder for the policemen/firemen to get your child out of the seat quickly if they need to in an emergency - not sure how true this is and i will admit i did use the bundle me sometimes  but, that is what i was told by the carseat inspection guy and a friend whose DH is a fireman.

My son FIGHTS me to take off his coat in the car EVERYDAY- he hates how he feels strapped in w/ his jacket on...
Who knew- the kid had a point the entire time
Im going to try the whole ZIP around the straps... otherwise- Im going to keep blankets in the car and just warm it up BEFORE getting in- and let him sit there jacket less.
Do you think this is effected by fall/spring LIGHT jackets as well...???
