Nook Color vs Ipad 1 vs Kindle
DH wants to get me one of these... Any suggestions or thoughts??

the ipad will do what the other two do, so if you have the extra money, I would go with that - or another tablet, like xoom
If you want an ereader, I would go with nook. the kindle is not compatible with anything but amazon ebooks and that prevents you from borrowing books from the library or others.

I have the nook color and the ipad (we're electronic junkies in this house) 
I love my nook color because it's small enough to keep in my bag, and it's light and easy to hold. You can also go online with it too if you are in a wifi area.
With the ipad, it's okay. I don't love it.. and I don't need it either. I have an iphone so if I want to use an ereader that isn't my nook I am more apt to use my iphone vs the ipad. Especially in bed. The iPad is just so big, heavy and hard to hold.
So my advice is to choose your device based on what you want to use it for the most. If you don't plan on using the ipad for anything but the internet and an ereader, definitely skip it and get the nook color.
