Re: Normal or not - postpartum swelling

Very normal. I didn't swell at all during pregnancy and PP my feet and ankles got huge! Doc said to keep my feet up, relax more and drink plenty of water.

Re: Normal or not - postpartum swelling

Oh my lord! I had no swelling at all during pregnancy. Then the day I was leaving the hospital I couldn't even tie my shoes because my cankles were out of control. It took about 2 weeks to go away.

Re: Normal or not - postpartum swelling

Normal! I had minor to moderate swollen ankles at the end of my pregnancy, but when I came home from the hospital they were severely swollen. I called dr. in a panic and he assured me it was totally normal.

totally normal and I was told it would get worse before it got better, and it worked out exactly that way. I think the swelling finally went down around 2.5 weeks PP.

It's normal even if it looks enormous!!! I called my dr a few times because I was convinced something was wrong. My feet were so horribly swollen that I could only wear my husband's shoes!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Normal or not - postpartum swelling

Just to repeat what everyone else said..its soo normal...I thought t was related to the C section but maybe I was wrong...I was sooo swollen. It left hospital with no swelling and then the next day my calfs, feet were sooo big! I was convinced there was a big problem. Call OB and he assured me its normal...
I dont understand why they dont tell you that on Discharge!

Re: Normal or not - postpartum swelling

totally normal. I had no PG swelling either, but PP my ankles and feet were HUGE PP. I actually called my OB bc I thought , this cannot be normal. But it was, its from all the fluid you retain from PGY and from the IVs in the hospital.

Re: Normal or not - postpartum swelling

Normal. I didn't swell much during my last pregnancy & then blew up after I gave birth. It went back to normal in a week or 2.
