North Bellmore Catalina Estates

Anyone familiar with the area? We saw a house we really liked there a few weeks ago at an open house. Of course it's already in contract. I like the feel of the community and it looks like most of the houses are laid out the same way. I really liked the lay out of the house we saw although it needed a lot of updating. Does anyone know how often homes come up for sale in that area? Thanks.

Re: North Bellmore Catalina Estates

I'm familiar. I live in North Bellmore ... on the other side of Newbridge Road from Catalina Estates I live in what's called the Old Britton Estates section.

Certain neighborhoods in N. Bellmore have names, and it sounds like it gives them a cache, but it's just a neighborhood. If you like N. Bellmore as a whole, I wouldn't limit yourself to just one area. Homes come up in Catalina Estates frequently... there are lots of ranches and capes. You will probably find larger homes in other sections of N. Bellmore. I don't think there's any less turnover there than other areas, but it's not a huge area, so it doesn't make up of the bulk of the inventory in N. Bellmore (which may be why it seems there's not much on the market).

Catalina Estates is zoned for Dinkelmeyer Elementary School (if that matters to you). There are 5 elementary schools in the N. Bellmore school district, which then funnels into the Bellmore-Merrick Central District for grades 7-12 (Grand Ave Middle and Mepham High).

I like living in N. Bellmore - it's a convenient area with good schools, decent commute by train or driving, a nice community feel (with various events, festivals, kids' activities and sports), near parks and beaches.

If you have any questions about the area, let me know.

Also, I am a real estate agent (I work in the only real estate office located in N. Bellmore), so I'd be happy to help with your home search.
