North Shore LIJ IVF? Reviews? Opinions?
I'm looking to get some feedback on NSLIJ-IVF. Someone recommended them to me, but I needed more information.
I'm looking for a RE that will try to diagnose the cause of my infertility and not just push IVF.
Any opinions or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I went to te Center for Human Reproduction at NSUH in Manhaset. I thought they were great and really didnt push any procedures on me. The DRs did all the testing then gave us our options...... I had a very good experience there and FM me if you have any questions. Good luck to you.

I have the same exact opinion. I am going there now and love it. I don't feel they push IVF at all. My RE is David Rosenfeld (he's the chief) and he founded the center 30 years ago. He definitely knows his stuff. I think I once heard something like 30% of the babies born at North Shore are as a result of the center. I was really surprised and it made me feel really good.
Feel free to fm me with any questions. Good Luck!!!

I'm going there, and seeing Dr. Hershlag. We both really like him a lot.
We are in the beginning stages, gearing up for an IUI next cycle as long as our genetics testing comes back ok.
Everyone we've met there has been really kind, warm and wonderful to us which is helpful because I was scared out of my mind before my first RE visit.

Re: North Shore LIJ IVF? Reviews? Opinions?
Just wanted to make sure we were talking about the same place. I saw Dr. Cohen and he did not push IVF at all. I had a medicated IUI and got pregnant on the first try! He said that if you don't respond to 3 IUI's it is usually your body telling you it is time to move on to IVF. I am sure that we would have reassesed at that point, but fortunately it never came to that for me!!

That reminded me of the conversation we had with Dr. Hershlag on the subject ... very similar way of thinking. He even drew us a little chart to explain better.
Basically he was saying that after about 3 - 4 tries with medicated IUI, the rate of success has leveled off and he'd recommend moving on to IUI with injectables. Again, after about 3 - 4 tries with that, he would recommend trying something else like IVF.

They give you a few differnt options which I liked. I didnt want to do meds unless it was for IVF. I did 3 unmedicated IUI's that didnt work and got pregnant with my first IVF cycle and they only gave me a 30 % chance of getting pregnant with 1 kid....well needless to say I kinda messed up their stats.....All I can say is all the DRs are great over there..Rosenfled does have an attiutude but if you do IVF you will be dealin with Herschlog and Scholl mostly...Good Luck to you...

I only know that there is one Ctr for Human RE and its at Manhasset. I went there and they immediately put me on meds after the first IUI didnt work. (Maybe my age?) 37 but I was a poor responder. 4IUI's later and they went right to IVF, 2 rounds of that they went right to suggesting DE. I like the people all very nice, nurses are great. I can only say that I felt like my Unexplained IF was just looked at as my given my age, it had to be my eggs. I know they have been good for alot of people. I think the most important thing you need is knowledge no matter where you go. I didnt like that I didnt know how many follies and what size they were when i did my first IVF. I was clueless when I spoke to friends that were going thru it too. Educate yourself and you can get the right treatment. Good luck to you
