North Shore university hospital Manhasset
Please tell me what your experience was like. Are the nurses nice? Do they push BF? How many to a room in post pardon/maternity? I hate that LIJ has 4 to a room. Does anyone know when the renovation will be complete?

I had a very good experience there most of the nurses were very nice. Yeah the sort of push BF on you, but at the time I was calling for a lac. person and couldn't get one, I didn't know what I was doing so I just formula fed and pumped for DC when I got home. Once the Lac. nurse left I gave up and gave DS the bottle she kept coming back and asking if it worked I said yup everything is good bc I didn't want them to keep bugging me
the nurses are very caring. Not sure when renovations will be done.

I had a good experience there. The nurses were amazing. I was already planning to BF so they were helpful. I saw the LC both mornings and was able to call them long after I went home with questions. I was monitored 3 days prior to delivery so I spent 5 nights total there. I had tons of nurses and they were all great. I also was in a 3 person room for some of the nights because of high risk. (3 people for high risk, 2 for regular - don't know why) Most nights, no one else was in the room. It didn't bother me too much.

I had a pretty good experience there. The maternity wing is lovely. They even had a dessert cart at night when I stayed a few years ago (when I gave birth to DS). Going from the high-risk GYN women's wing (where I stayed for a week on bed rest before giving birth) to the maternity wing was a very nice change for the better.
There are typically 2 women to a room. I got the window view due to my C-section (I have no idea why). You can pay for a private room but it's upwards of $400 a night. I could stay at a Ritz-Carlton for that! The nurses and staff were very attentive. The good news is as long as your baby is in the general nursery, you pretty much have access to him/her all the time. But take advantage of the nurse's help at night so that you can get some well-needed rest (unless nursing of course). It's the last time you'll get a full night's sleep in awhile!
As far as the LC, I didn't feel they pushed BF too much. I had a very understanding woman who seemed to respect my wishes.
