Nosebleeds
My 7 yr old son wakes up maybe 2x a night with bad nosebleeds. It's disrupting his sleep because he gets up to go to the bathroom to clean up and then 2 hrs later again. We turned down the heat, are going to use the humidifier but is there anything else we can do? Is this something doctor worthy? His dad says he used to always get them as a kid but I feel bad

Nosebleeds
I would see the doctor for sure. Go to an ENT. My son gets them, used to get them bad when he was little. Turns out he has a rare bleeding disorder.

Re: Nosebleeds
Does he drink enough water? DS used to get them, but then I started making sure he got a lot more water during the day. His skin is much better, and his nose bleeds have stopped. Without enough water, the skin dries up, and is very prone to cracking and bleeding, especially in the nose.

Re: Nosebleeds
He's seen an ENT prior to getting all these nosebleeds. He would snore very loud and breathe through his mouth and his pediatrician referred us just in case. Turns out he has a slight deviated septum that probably occured at birth. They won't do surgery because he's so young. But like I said this was prior to the nosebleeds

Re: Nosebleeds
My brother had them too and had to have it cauterized.

Re: Nosebleeds
Both me and my son are prone to nosebleeds and sleeping with a humidifier has almost eliminated the recurring nosebleeds. Also make sure he is drinking enough water and if his nose is still dry consider using saline solution occasionally.

Re: Nosebleeds
I would get it checked out. But in addition to the humidifier, I would add steaming showers, extra fluids. They sell baby ayre or other saline spray. They also sell a saline gel you could use to help moisturizer. You can get nosebleeds from sinus infections. It never hurts to get checked if it is bleeding that much.

Re: Nosebleeds
I always have a vase filled with water in their rooms just to help keep the moisture in the air.

Re: Nosebleeds
My DD always get nosebleeds and we added a humidifier (cool mist) and it has helped a lot! I tried the saline gel but didn't notice a difference.
