Not going to a party to go to a playoff game
Ok, here is the back story... DH and I are NY Rangers season ticket holders. DS was born in November and we have not been to any games this season, but have been going to some playoff games.
Saturday is Game 7... it is also my cousins 13th birthday party. My aunt is having it at her house and i originally said we would go. I just called her and informed her that since it is going to Game 7, we will not be able to attend. I feel like she got pissed off at me for not going. We will be seeing them on Sunday for Mother's Day, she is coming to my house.
Am i wrong for wanting to go to a playoff hockey game? If it were just a regular game, then i of course would not go to the game and go to the party. Am i a horrible person?

We have season tickets too and there's no way we would miss the game...you wait all year for this....our families knw dh is a huge ranger fan so they would understand

Go to the game. You'll be seeing them on Sunday and if I were you I'd probably go out of my way to do something special for the cousin then.

Pretty sure as long as you give a gift (and maybe a Rangers souvenir) you'll be fine with the 13 year old and its really about her. She prob won't even care that you didn't make it to the party!

I will put this in my terms so I understand it better!
If it were game 7 of the world series and the Yankees were playing- I'd drop going to a WEDDING to go...forget a birthday party!

It's a 13th birthday party - the guest of honor probably could not care less if you show up, they will care more about friends being there.
Without a doubt I would choose the game.

Playoff game.
I wouldn't be angry if someone had to miss my dd's 13th birthday party for a game. Unless it's a bat mitzvah or sweet 16, I say not a big deal.

I'm not a sports fan AT ALL by any means, but I even I know that the game is more important than a 13th bday. It's not like its a sweet 16 or first bday!

I don't even like hockey but I say go to the game. People should make their own choices and do what is important to them. It doesn't mean she's not important to you--shower her with love on Mother's Day.

GAME 7!!!! are THEY nuts! Of course you go to the game!! Psh, whats a 13th birthday anyway!!! granted they are a "teen" now.. but they will be a PITA teen for the next 7 years!
Fun idea... try and get on TV during the game with a Happy Birthday sign!!?
