Not PG related but could use some hugs!
So I just found out my parents are getting a divorce after 27 years of marriage they have decided to go there own ways. I'm in shock. I knew they weren't very happy but never thought it would come to this. At 24 years old I'm a mess about the thought of them not being together and being in the same home. They haven't told my 16 year old brother yet and I'm scared how he will react. I guess its better we are older and have to deal with this rather then be children. I am just not handling this well at all. I thought as an adult I could cope with this but I'm not. I know in time it will get easier but right now its so hard and to top it off DH and I live in there house which they want to sell but they told us they will not sell it for a little while till the baby is born and a few months old. They don't want to rush us out and have us on the street or in a crappy place because we have to rush out. So I know we have plently of time to look into a new place but I'm sad to have to leave. We planned to live there for another 2 years then buy a home but plans have def changed. My dad came crying to me telling me its over for them and they just want to be happy. I've been such a mess all day.
If anyone has dealt with this, if you have some words to share with me to get me through this I would love to hear! Just looking for some hugs. At almost 26 pregnant I'm so sad. This should be a happy time and right now its such a blah time. All I can think about is my parents not living together anymore and how unhappy they really are. I hope this is for the best and they find happiness again one day.

I'm so sorry  Unfortunately, I can relate - my parents separated when I was in my 20's. My mother moved out and into the summer house. A few years ago she finally initiated the divorce proceedings.
Some people say it's easier as an adult to go through this - I don't know, but all I know is that in my own personal experience, it's horrible, tough and devastating. Particularly so when the decision isn't 50-50.
I don't have words of wisdom, unfortunately, because even after my father's passing, I *still* have problems coming to term with everything that happened. The only thing that really helped me was to refocus on my own little nuclear family, DH and my little Alex, and be so appreciative of the wonderful little family I have right in my home, and to remember that I'm creating a new, better legacy for my children.

I"m so sorry. I know it feels like your whole foundation is being ripped out from under you. It's hard when it happens and you're older. Not only does everything you believe to be true about life and love have to change, you also have to make new life choices as an adult (holidays, birthdays, etc). It's not easy at all. My heart hurts for you and your family. Divorce is painful from every angle...but there is peace at the end...Try to keep your eye on that. A happy parent is what's most important. Their love for you and your brother will NOT waiver in the face of this at all. It will feel lighter and clearer very soon!! And there are a lot of positives to it too...but they are so hard to see and feel right now....Try to stay strong and let yourself grieve.

I'm so sorry! My parents divorced when I was in college but they had an extremely easy divorce and they have a GREAT relationship still. That is what made it a lot easier on my sister and I. As long as your parents still have respect for one another, they will do the right thing. You'll get through it.

You girls truely are amazing!! thank you everyone for your kind words and hugs and for you ladies who shared your stories!! I know I'll get through it but for now its so hard!! I hope they find happiness again and that things don't get ugly. For now they seem to be dealing with this pretty good and pray it stayes that way more for my brother then myself. Again I can't say thank you enough to everyone for being so kind!!!

So sorry to hear this, the only advice I can offer is that it is not easy for them to end such a long relationship either, and both your parents are probably equally upset. I would try to make things as easy as possible for them and be there to listen and offer love and support.
So sorry that this is happening, but sometimes it's best to be apart if they are both happier.
