Not really home related...just a little common sense
If you do not want to live in a gated community, then you should not go and live in a gated community, right?
I am so dumbfounded that people sign up to rent an apartment in a gated community and then drive their cars into the gates to break them. Or they drive their cars into the brick key pads to lock the gates open. Or they yank the gates when they are opened to they break the motor and stay open! Why, why, WHY? Go live somewhere else!! The rent will be cheaper!!!
DH tried to fix the gate and close it and some guy on the balcony of a nearby apartment yelled profanities at him!
I just needed to vent. Thanks

are you sure it's not someone trying to break in??? or have you actually witnessed a member of the community doing this?

Re: Not really home related...just a little common sense
Unfortunately, it's a common occurance here. People will rear end you to try to get in after you punch your code before the gate closes. DH has witnessed people drive into the gate (it opens slowly) to push it open. People will also speed in all the way from the entrance to try to get in before the gate closes. It's very annoying. No doubt that the place is probably being scoped by people who want to break in. Management does nothing...they say because it does not guarantee safety, it does not matter if the gate works or not. Really, that's what they say.
Time to find a new place to live...
Not the only rule being broken either.
Just today I came home w/ DH w/ groceries to be greeted by a resident (he lives right under us) urinating on the lawn of our building in broad daylight. Mind you, children live in this complex.

Welcome to the neighborhood?

Not in Kansas anymore are we Toto?
Nothing says "welcome home" like some guy's ding-a-ling in the morning.
