Not sure if I want to do the Santa on the lap thing yet

Anyone else forgoing it who has an INFANT. My DD is only 6 months old. We are having pics taken at Sears next week. Not sure if I care to stand on line waiting for Santa. I tend to stay away from malls, especially this time of year.

I did it last year with DD when she was 6 months. The line was about 10 minutes long and the pictures were adorable.

But, there's certainly NOTHING wrong w/ forgoing the whole thing! Chat Icon

Curious - which mall was that? I can't imagine anything at Roosevelt Field being that short (hate that mall). Does santa go to Walt Whitman? It's the only mall I can still tolerate for the most part. I hate crowds and lines and can't imagine dealing with that with DD.

The Source Mall! I wouldn't do Roosevelt Field, either. Chat Icon

I took my first DD when she was 4 months old and my second DD when she was 2 months old. I love having those pictures to look back on. But if you don't mind not having a picture then I see nothing wrong with skipping it. Your DD won't remember!

DS was 7 months old last year and we did it. It really is kinda fun at this age b/c you don't know what their reaction will be.

We went on a Saturday in mid-November and we waited like 10 minutes at Smithhaven! We went around dinner timeChat Icon Chat Icon

I took DD last year, she was 5 months. I went to Sunrise Mall around 4:30 after work & there was NO line. It turned out to be a cute picture too.

We took DS last year when he was 3.5 months. We didn't dress him in traditional holiday clothes... he wore a long sleeve white onesie and camo overalls! I love the picture!

Completely your choice if you want to skip it, but it might be nice to have the picture to look back on!

This time of year the line shouldn't be to long. Especially if it's during the week.

DS will be 6 months Xmas Eve....I'm pretty sure we are going to do Santa on the lap. Hopefully next weekend so we can get it out of the way.

At 6 months we brought Lucas. DH and I both were there and surprisingly it went well. We were fortuante to be on line with some really great families and the children kept Lucas distracted while we waited. He was good with Santa...granted not all smiley-smiley...more like who the he!! are you...but we got our picture.

We did RF last year on a weekend in early Nov (DD was dressed up from a family bday and we had to run to the mall after for something) there was NO line and she did VERY well - she was 5 months.

RF has no line or a short line during the week and early morning on weekends - but forget it at the busy times at the mall.

I didn't do it for my DD's 1st or 2nd Christmases--she was 3 mos. and 15 mos. My SIL thought I was a grinch, but I don't regret it one bit.

Last year, we didn't get "professional" Santa pictures, but my girls saw Santa in other settings (friend's firehouse, DD's pre-school) and they took pictures with him--even then they didn't come out so hot.

DD was born 12/4 so we didn't take Santa pics. There is NO way I'm skipping this year. I did the Easter Bunny at 5 months.

I did it with DD at around around 5 weeks last year! I love the pic.

ETA - I also did it early when the mall opened at during the week. We were the only one there. I think the RF Santa is the best!
