Not sure if this was posted yet- but an NYPD officer could use some prayers
This is a friend of my DH's from work.
DH was working on Saturday night when it happened and spent the night in the hospital with him.
He has severe head injuries and they are saying it doesn't look good.
Please pray for him and his family- he has 3 young children... 
NYPD officer in grave condidition

Saw this last night on the news.
I immediately put in a call to the Commissioner (of Nassau) to pass the word along to the NYC Commish. I want to put the family in touch with Kenneth's doctor. This Officer has a similar injury and had a very similar life saving surgery -- just like Kenneth. And with the two year anniversary of what happened to Ken coming up tomorrow I just feel like we are MEANT to help this poor man.
The Commish got back to me and is passing the word through the PBA Presidents... We are waiting. Dr. DeFina has offered to help him (in this crtical stage is can be SO important to get him help NOW) -- and then we can work to get him into Kessler.
I hope he pulls through!!!!!

Exactly. It really hits home!
And for us, it is heartbreaking b/c we know what it is like to be in that position - to have NO clue what brain injury is. You start getting these gloom and doom reports from doctors. You don't know WHO to turn to. And with one specialty clinic in the country who even treats them (everyone else just says, they are on their own to recover) you feel like you are all alone.
The hardest part is that we are currently working to put together a Foundation in Ken's name to help head injured police, firefighters, and other various servicemen/women. They have a team in place that can be dispatched in an emergency to do special treatments within 24-48 hours of injury. These brain cooling treatments DRAMATICALLY reduce the swelling that patients suffer from. And the swelling is what causes the most serious damage. That is why I feel so bad right now. If we could just get this Foundation in place - or if we had, the team could be working on the officer right now. 
It's so upsetting.
