Not sure where to post this : did you see your OB/GYN before you started TTC?

Or did you just go ahead to TTC , got pregnant and then saw the dr ?
And if you did see an OB/GYN before you started TTC did they put you on anything before starting TTC ? vitamins, recommended certain diet , anything...

I was due for a physical when we began TTC, so I went to my regualr Dr. and my OB/GYN. I asked them if they would reccommend anything before i start TTC.

They said the usual about prenatals and such and cutting back on my caffeine before TTC bc I used to drink A LOT of coffee. Not bc the caffeine would interfere with TTC but I might get bad headaches and some "withdrawel".

Also, they wanted me to up the amount of iron i take a day bc im anemic. However, I dont think its harmful if you dont go.

My GYN is also my OB. I told him that I wanted to go off the pill and start TTC. He prescribed me folic acid, so I started taking it only about 3 months before I got pregnant.

I also know people that didn't tell their OB/GYN anything about TTC and just started taking OTC prenatals a few months before they were ready to TTC. Good luck!

I went in December to a new obgyn I heard good things about, knowing in the near future we would TTC. I didn't like my previous obgyn. I told my new doctor we would TTC in spring-fall. He did the routine exam and we chatted in his office. He had no concerns, said eat healthy, take multi vitamin and omega 3.

i was due for a regular appointment anyway. they did "pre-conception" bloodwork and gave me some sample packs of prenatals.

I did because i wanted to choose my ob beforehand. They did preconception bloodwork, some genetic bloodwork and gave me rx for prenatals.

I did not see my doctor first. I just started taking prenatals and called my OB when I got my BFP.

I was trying for 2 years without temping, watching my o etc. and I would mention it to the dr when I was there for checkups but for those 2 years I made it clear we weren't aggressively trying. after 2 solid years then I saw the dr and he gave me a lot of tips and things to try, do and not do. all basic things but something’s I never knew, like not getting up after he told make sure to roll over and go right to sleep. he also ordered basic blood work things like thyroid and some other things to make sure nothing like that was wrong. after trying for a full 3 years they sent me off to a RE but technically I had only been with that dr for 1 year and aggressively trying for that 1 year. I'm sure if I would have asked my other ob before that they would have refered me to an RE but I really wasn't ready. I thought I could do it on my own. in the end we went one cycle to RE just to be diagnosed, and before we did anything I found out i was pregnant. crazy how things work out.

If you want to know my opinion? I would go for your reg. checkups but I wouldn't go crazy with the dr until you've been trying 6 months. it makes you worry, and get obsessive. it’s so much easier when you’re trying and not really focused on it.
