Not understanding doctors thinking
They keep having me do blood work because based on my dates he said doesn't add up. I have been tracking for months so I I know I'm not off. My hcg was 327 487 then 830 and now wants more blood work tomorrow which will be 4 days after the last had repeat sono and something grew so tiny. Still trying rule out ectopic but he thinks he see something in uterus. Is there hope or they dragging it out. Going to perinatal associates Hugh risk Friday for second opinion with dr Chavez

Unfortunately early in a pregnancy its a lot of wait and see. they can only do blood and sonos and go by the #s and what they see. And with the betas the #s only mean so much and there is a huge range to normal so you can't go by that alone.
Also that early in the pregnancy there isnt that much they can do to make it viable. It is very much out of the Drs hands.
Hang in there!

Re: Not understanding doctors thinking
Yeah, there's really not much you can do this early other than waiting things out. I had betas done every 48 hours for 2 weeks. Basically from the moment I peed on the stick (which was a couple days before 4wks) till I reached 2,000 (which was a little before my 6wk appointment). Once I hit that number then we stopped because at 2,000 you're able to see much more on a sono than you could beforehand. The sono afterwards confirmed the pregnancy. So I think at this point you just need to wait it out, continue to do the betas, and hope for the best.

Unfortunately like the PP said this early in the game it's really a wait and see. There isn't much you can do but hang tight.
Sometimes with ectopic pregnancies sometimes what's called a pseudo sac grows in the uterus along with sac in the tube.
For my last miscarriage I needed to keep repeating beta until it went down which can take a while. It really sucks.

Re: Not understanding doctors thinking
With betas that low, it's highly unlikely you would see anything anyway. Based on your tracking (and when you got your BFP), your numbers should be higher and you should see more in the sono. That being said, since your betas do appear to be doubling, a "wait and see approach" is really the only thing you can do. You will know more very soon, but for now, all you can really do is try to be patient.
I know it's really hard, but hang in there! You'll have answers soon.

Re: Not understanding doctors thinking
Well nothing much to report I'm still holding on and not giving up hope. It's a wired feeling I can't really explain but I'm ok and going with it. My numbers are as follows
327,487,833,1864 so they are rising and I'm praying those are good things. Tomorrow I go to dr Chavez and hopes I have some answers and that the u/s shows something snd gives me and my family good news. I feel great spent all day walking around nyc and feel good no pain no bleeding dull cramps that come and go. Am I crazy for hoping

Re: Not understanding doctors thinking
I'm a realist which a lot of people on these boards may not like but I'm not the type to sugar coat anything. ....it doesn't look good. Anything over 1000 you should be able to see a gestational sac with fetal pole at this point. Your numbers are rising and are doubling but not where they should be and at this point Dr Chavez is doing a "wait and see" approach. That's all they can do since your numbers are increasing but they aren't seeing what should be seen. You cold have a blighted ovum or ectopic which doesn't necessarily have to be implanted in the tubes it could have implanted elsewhere in your body.
Good Luck
