Thinking of maybe switching doctors...

Hi Ladies...
So I'm stressing out about choosing who I want to deliver my baby. I really want a natural delivery. I don't want unnecessary medical interventions pushed on me in the interest of saving time or making my labor progress quicker. Right now I'm going to Three Village Women's Health, but they said they have a 25-30% C-section rate, which seems really high to me. I was thinking of switching to the midwives at Stony Brook, wondering if anybody has experience with them or advice. I've heard mixed reviews so far and just want to make the best decision for me and my baby.

TIA

That c section rate is normal. I think the only way you will find a office with a lower rate is to go to midwives but know that each and very pregnancy is different and you can have the convo with your dr.

Mine was very open to doing whatever I wanted up to a point. I had medical issues and my Dr was still open to natural...we even tried it until the baby was in distress

Do it! We knew two couples that switched at 38 weeks and were so glad they did. It's not too late at all. If you have any doubts act on them NOW.

I go to the SB Midwives and like them a lot. Their c-section rate is 11% which is awesome. (C-section rates in most LI hospitals is over 40%, which in my mind is horrifying. The rate in the US is 32.8%. 25-30% is "normal," but still double what the World Health Organization recommends). I know several people that birthed with them and were very happy.

Personally, I prefer the midwife approach to birth. If you're aiming for a low-intervention, unnecessary med-free birth, you have a better shot of getting it with an MW. (It can be done with an OB, but it's less likely). Midwives overall have better outcomes for low-risk women than OBs. This group delivers in one of the best hospitals in lower NY, so if you or your baby have a problem, you're in good hands.
