Doing value resort - we dont need much time in the room since we only have 4 full days

We are doing the free dining offer

We have been to Disney over 20 times and I've never used a travel agent. I don't see the need

You can pretty much do it yourself. Unless you want someone booking your dining and FP's for you.

The main reason I don't use a travel agent, is because I want to be able to speak to Disney directly about my reservation if the need arises. You cannot do that if you book through a third party (travel agent, orbitz, etc.).

I did it without agent all 3 times we've been...including my first time at the age of 35. Booked trips about 3 months out so I never did dining at 180 days, if you're flexible it will be fine. Fast passes I believe open at 7am, 60 days out which is fine but I usually end up going in late to work that day so I can get the harder to get fast passes...they used to do it at midnight and I preferred that.

Re: Not using travel agent for Disney

We did it recently without a TA. Two families. We found a house we rented for the 8 of us and got the passes online. We ordered the bracelets and set them up with our passes. Since we are up early every morning anyway wasn't a big deal to do the fast passes too. We tried to get the rides earlier in the day and then got more FP after we did our 3rd. No issues.
We also went during Spring Break when it's super busy, but it was fine. Got flights out of Philly too.
Just use the Disney app and kept checking the wait times. NEver waited more that 40 mins for a ride either.
Go and have fun!

I've gone to Disney countless times and I have never used an agent. I am a seasoned pro, LOL, so I like to do all of the planning myself when it comes to Disney. I think if you've never, ever been an agent it useful because there are some tricks and tips you'll need to learn in order to have a successful vacation. Have a great trip!Chat Icon

Youre too kind! Kids will be almost 13 and 15. We have quick dining plan plan (2 meals and 2 snacks) and 4 day park hopper. I need a plan for food (breakfast & snack) delivery and itinerary each day to get the most out of parks i guess! We dont intend to be at hotel much.

I would bring your own breakfast stuff or order it from Amazon Prime Now (it's a 2 hourish) service in Orlando. Eat in the room while getting ready, then head out to the parks. Use your dining credits in the parks!

I agree. This is what I did. I booked only one breakfast character meal.

For big trips, I always use a TA. There's no downside to it, you don't pay them and they do all the leg work. We went to Disney in November. From the time we booked to the time we actually left, I got credits back on airfare, the hotel and the meal plan because she found better deals. Could I have done that myself? Yes, I'm sure but I don't have the time to be doing that. This is their job.

Whom did you use? Did she book your ADRs and FP?

Re: Not using travel agent for Disney

I’ve never used an agent but we have dvc so we don’t have to worry about hotels and I find the detailed planning and itinerary making to be the most fun part of the whole process (I should have been a travel agent!). I personally hate communicating with people on what I want and would rather just take control myself.

I will FM you. She did NOT book the ADR's and FP but that's only because I was being a pain about it and wanted to do it myself and was making constant changes on my app. She would have though.

I loved planning it myself. This will be our 2nd time and I’m not using an agent.

A seasoned Disney traveling friend told me only use an agent if they can get you a deal. Her agent hooked me up with significant savings on our hotel costs. We haven't reached the ADR or FP booking dates yet but glad she will be doing it for me!
