Notary Public Question-Updated
Anyone a notary public? I had to get something notarized (application for STAR program, actually), and a lady at work is a notary. She signed the bottom of the application (there wasn't a specific place for her signature, so she just signed on the bottom) with her name, and then wrote notary public.
My question for notaries is: do you need to sign and put an ID number or anything else? Or will just her name be fine? I don't want to bother her again to ask her, she's super busy here.

I'm a notary and she should have a stamp & seal. The stamp will have her name & registration number on it plus county (I'm in Kings). The stamp will also have the date her commission expires (typically 20__ and you fill in the 07 or whatever date).
I have never just signed with no stamp or seal but I suppose she could write in all her info

Re: Notary Public Question
This is what I thought. But she has been a notary for years and years and years and is very together, so I figured if that's what she put, that's all I needed. Hmmm.... Maybe I'll reprint the application and go to a bank to get it notarized formally. Don't want to risk not filing the application to save $$!
Thanks ladies!

Re: Notary Public Question
I have never heard of a notary notarizing things without a seal or stamp either.

Re: Notary Public Question
If she didn't have her stamp I believe she can write out her ID number and the county in which she is a registered notary...but if she didn't do that then I don't think its valid

Re: Notary Public Question
What she did sounds almost like a "witness"; not exactly a Notary.
It doesnt make sense how her notary ID # or stamp was nowhere. I know its a waste of time, but I'd go somewhere else; like a bank and have it done right.

Re: Notary Public Question-Updated
For the record she can notarize without a stamp/seal but she needs to write the information regarding her commission on the paper.
I prefer to use my stamp but have notarized using the write-in method.

Re: Notary Public Question-Updated
She could write in the info. but I don't see how just her name and "notary public" would be sufficient enough I am a notary and I have a stamp and seal, but I know that if a doc. doesn't specifically say it needs a stamp and/or seal, hand written info would be fine.....I would say something to her

Sorry, I posted an update. She did stamp it, I just didn't notice it. Thanks though!
