now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
i am 10 weeks post-partum and i needed new work pants (none of my old ones fit yet). so i got 2 pairs from NY and Company, size 6. i am usually a size 4. they fit nicely - and i was surprised since i have several pants from there, that i bought last year, in a size 6. i tried them on fairly recently... so maybe i just lost a few pounds and didn't realize it?
nope! i went home and tried on my "old" size 6 pants. can't even zip them up.
these pants are the SAME style. similar fabric. same labels.
i really would rather they kept the numbers the same! i mean, i understand that they re-work their measurements because women will probably buy more if they think they are a size 6. but seriously, if i had purchased these pants 10 years ago, they most likely would have been labeled a size 10.
so frustrating!!

I HATE that
they should standardize womans sizes- like Mens
I can buy a suit for my DH with out him being there
but I can't buy myself anything with out bringing 3 sizes into the fitting room with me
my closet ranges from 2 to 6

Re: now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
Don't even et me started on this!!
I went to BR today and tried on pair of pinstripe pants in size 4. They were too small!!! I normally wear a 2-4 from BR! I got upset thinking I gianed some weight! But I liked the pants so I tried them in a size 6 and they fit well so I bought them, although I was a bit surprized that I could have possible gained a whole size without realizing it. I normally don't let myself go so i was kind of upset...
Now, I had a pair of BR pants in my closet in the same Martin style that I bought a few weeks ago and haven't worn yet. They are a size 2. I got home and put them on to see just how much weight I gained!
Well, the size 2 at home fit like a glove!!! They fit the exact same way as the 6!! Where is the logic?? How can one person be a size 2, 4 and 6 IN THE SAME STORE???
How does one shop? Do I now bring 3 different sizes of EACH PANT into the dressing room?

Re: now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
BR is the worst
riddle me this
I bought a pair of pants this summer- size 2
I orginally bought a 4 and a 6 - but they were too big
so I love this pink pants so much in the 2
see the white is on sale
so I order the white in the 2
can't even button them
the same pants, the same style, the same season

Re: now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
add me to the list of frustrated shoppers! I also have to take at least 2 different sizes into the fitting room! SO ANNOYING!
DH shops without trying on a thing! and everything he buys ALWAYS FITS!
it's SO unfair and men wonder why it takes us so long to shop! talk to the stupid designers

Re: now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
I know someone that worked in a sweater warehouse years ago....when they had to ship an order and didn't have enough of a certain size to fill the order, they would grab another sweater one size off, bring it to their seamstress in house to change the label to fill the order I always try everything on

Re: now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
I have experienced the same thing in a number of stores.
I tried on three pairs of GAP jeans all the same size and style and they all fit differently.
Also, I once tried on TEN skirts in ATLoft, all the same size and only one fit.
Sizing is weird.
Oh yeah, another weird thing. I once tried on a jumper in ATLoft. It fit on top but not in the hips. So I went up a size. The top got bigger, the bottom didn't. Finally I got a whole bunch of them off the rack and measured them up to each other. It seems that they all measured the same in the skirt portion but the top got bigger with each size.

Only place I can buy pants without trying them on is the Gap for some reason.

Re: now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
I worked at The Gap in high School and we were always told when helping a customer with sizes to let the know that gap jeans and a lot of their pants are individually cut and therefore they will all fit differently........ Frustrating, I know!

Re: now i KNOW they are just messing with my head
this is such a pet peeve for me. I hate when I buy a pair of pants in one size and love them so much I go back for another color or the same pants, and they don't fit in the same size
my closet ranges from 0-4 and i think I even have 1 or 2 size 6's
