NPR: Could use some prayers and hugs! Long Vent.

To add more insult to injury: Most of you know i have been out of work since Feb, and have had an extremely difficult pregnancy. I am not able to return to work until at least 4 weeks after the baby is born. And last year i lost a baby in april at 20 weeks and i had a vaginal delivery then and was out for 5 weeks. Well that was just back ground. i was given the impression that i had until Aug 3rd to return to work, b/c that would be exactly 6 months. And i asked a million times is everyone sure and they said Yes. Well let me just say they were friggin wrong, My boss calls me today and said she got a letter from the leave management board, stating that i had to return to work by June 18th or else i am terminated. My face dropped and i said how can that be, and she said that its calendar year, and they are counting the 5 weeks that i was off from last years miscarriage as part of my time. I am so disgusted and hurt. I have been an RN there for almost 4 years, i did 2 years of horrible nights, i have worked every holiday. All my friends are there. So she gave me 2 numbers to call to see if they can extend my leave, and i was so excited b.c i was going back 3/4 time, so i was going to be home more with the baby. I guess i should be careful what i wish for, so i explained my story and everything to this woman in HR, and she is going to see if we can extend my time. I mean June 18th he might not even be here by then, b.c im not being induced until a week after that. Please just say some prayers that they extend my time. I mean i guess if there is a silver lining , i will be home with the baby alittle more, and will get unemployment, 400 a week compared to my 127.44 disability check i guess lol i dont want that though, I LOVE MY JOB, and have worked very hard there. thanks for listening.

That is ridiculous though that no one doubled checked into it knowing you were out last year...I hope you get some type of extension

I had 26 weeks of disability and then 12 fmla weeks ( unpaid) as soon as baby was born.

I hope they made a mistake, doesnt seem "right"

I am so sorry!!!

But that's interesting bc I am in a similar situation i as OP and I was told the 12 weeks of FMLA counts in the 26 weeks of disability. So I am not eligible to take FMLA after my disability runs out. I have been out for 6 months when mid july comes so I am in the same boat. I was told I would be terminated as of July 20th if I dont return.

I am sorry you have to deal with this stress!

I am hearing more and more of incompetent HR departments that say one thing and then do another!

I hope everything works out for you, but remember in every situation there is always a silver lining.

I would ask for all of this in writing, including dates and explanations. At my company (and of course every company is different) - after the FMLA runs out, legally we do not HAVE to terminate someone, we can if we choose to, extend their time. It seems odd to me that all of a sudden they are backtracking and bringing up this June date.
