NPR: I am really nervous about the snow tomorrow...
I live in Holbrook and work in Mineola and last week when it snowed it took me 3.5 hours to get home.
We got an email at work saying that we should call our office managers (of course I forgot to write the numbers down but I found one online) and find out if the office is closed.
The girl who sits next to me says they have never been closed, I sort of feel like I should try to get in, but at the same time I really do not want to deal with bad weather tomorrow either.
If we are open and people don't go in we can make up the hours or use our time, so it isn't the end of the world, but it is making me really uneasy.

When is the snow supposed to start? I've learned not to get my hopes up since everytime they say snow, we don't get any!!
I would stay home though..I don't think it's worth the risk of the drive since people are lunatics when the weather is bad.

Great! after the last time it snowed I said I was not going to drive in that again but I just took off last Thurday and Friday b/c DS was sick.

yahoo already has a severe weather alert up so I say stay home!!
I am 99% sure I am cancelling DD's physical therapy appt tomorrow - it's just not worth taking her out.

I am the cautious one who always stays home. To me, it's not worth the 3+ hour commute, not to mention stress. If it's questionable, just stay home.

I would see how it is in the morning. If it's bad, stay home. Your safety is worth more than a few hours of work.
I also havd a long commute to work (luckily, not this week) and whenever the weather is questionable, I stay home. It's just a job...not worth risking it to me.

I heard it was supposed to start between 4-5am and the weather warnings were up til 1am on Saturday
I am nervous of the long commute and that it is supposed to be bad allll day.

I'm almost always the one that shows up.
I'm probably going in tomorrow with a 6 year old in tow. Definitely not ideal if there are train problems but I have something important to get done.
While my commute tomorrow is likely going to be longer than 3 hours, it's by train. I wouldn't drive 3 hours. Not worth it in my opinion if you can make it up other times or work from home.

I always go in...but my office is 6 miles away from my house AND I drive a county car. If I get into an accident its workmans comp and don't have to pay for repairs. Plus they usually don't make us work in the field and so I get to stay at the office. But this was vefore I had my DS. Luckily I'm still on maternity leave. Don't know if I'd still go to work in it. With a three hour commute, I wouldn't risk it. Good Luck

But then again, that job bit me in the arse and I vowed never to put my job before me again

I would go in. If the office is open then they expect people to show up. But if you don't feel safe driving then you shouldn't and just use your personal time for it.

I work in Mineola too, seems like the worst place in the world to get to if the conditions are less than perfect....
After I smacked up my car a few years ago in a pileup, I don't take anymore chances......
Stay home! Although you have probably already made up your mind.....

It actually started earlier. Since DD didn't want to sleep last night I was up at 1am and there was already a coating of snow on the ground.
