NPR: Laundry Question for those who wash uniforms

I know this prob should be posted somewhere else but I am hoping to get a faster response here...

dh was promoted last winter and is now wearing white shirts.... while this was not an issue during the spring and summer because he had short sleeves on, now he has long sleeves and they get gross... however he tells me not to use clorox because of the patches.... so how else am i supposed to get them white? I dont always bleech them but when he rides in the cars all night without a jacket they really get nasty sometimes....

i typically use the color safe but sometimes it just doesnt get the grim out completely... it would help if he brought them home more often (nothing like a weeks worth of smelly uniforms to make my day)

and yes they also skeeve me out and they get washed all by their lonsome as well

Re: NPR: Laundry Question for those who wash uniforms

Is it possible to just have the dry cleaner do it? DH wears long in the winter short in the summer also, he wear dark blue almost black uniforms. They are such a pain in the butt to wash, then starch, crease the sleeves, etc.. We found a cheap place near us that does a really good job, they only do his shirts, as work does his pants thank god. If I did the shirts he would always be complaining. You can always write it off on your taxes too, just keep all the bills for the year. I tell myself the money balances out b/c it is less electric not using the washer, and less soap. That is where the savings comes from. Chat Icon Good luck.

What about something like the Oxyclean? Where you can soak it?

Chris is in navy still, and his dress is a light blue shirt, so I've never dealt with the whites....

Thank god for navy uniforms.
Plus DH wears short sleeves most of the time so they don't get too dirty. If he gets cold he wears his coat and it goes to the cleaners.
