NPR- So Frustrated and need to vent!! (Posting this here since this is pretty much the only board I post on)

I interviewed for a teaching position here in NC on 9/11. Everything went really well and I left the interview feeling confident and just had a really good feeling about it. All last week went by, and I didn't here anything so I decided that I'd call today to find out if they had any news. I called this morning, spoke to the secretary and was told the position was filled. I was bummed but okay with it.
I get home this afternoon from my parents house (I slept there last night since they've been asking me to for a while, and i was going to be all alone all weekend) and there were 2 messages from the principal. They both were from last night (a Sunday night have you) at 6:15pm asking me to call back so I can go in for a 2nd interview today. The principal left his cell phone number so I immediately called it. He pretty much told me that they wanted to interview me and one other person and that when I didn't get back to them, they just hired the other person. He told me what a strong candidate I was and that he would've loved to hire me, blah blah blah! I AM SO UPSET!!! Who the helllll calls on a Sunday night for an interview on a Mon morning, and then doesn't even give the person 24hrs to respond before giving the job away!!! Not sure why I'm posting this...guess I just wanted to vent! Thanks for listening

Sorry to hear that! It is crazy! If they are so unreasonable, that school may not be a good place to work anyway.

what!? are you kidding me?!

okay i worked in human resources and that's SO not something that happens. sounds to me like the principal just made the phone call to cover his/her tail. they never wanted to give you the position...not sure if that's what you want to hear or not but don't beat yourself up about this! it was not your fault!! big s!!!

Thats terrible. Did they have your cell phone number? Unfortunately there is nothing you can do, but they should have waited until they contacted you to offer someone the job. Unfair.

Judging by what MrsRiviera's been posting about in regards to NC and their school system, you might want to rethink the teaching thing.

What's with NC and working on "the Lord's day?"

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I'm still bummed but feeling better today!! I have another interview with a different school tomorrow, so I'm hoping that works out! If not, I'm going to take a break from trying to find a job and just enjoy staying home with my lil man for now!!
