I am very sorry for your loss. I have unfortunately been through this with one of my closest friends. She passed away at 36, after battling scleroderma.
It profoundly changed me as a person. It never really goes away but you learn to deal with it. Six years later, I can honestly say that I think about her almost every day. Just last night I was telling my kids and family a funny story about something we did in college.
Strangely enough, the person who helped me get through/understand this the most was my father. Everyone else told me these thing just happen, there is a plan even if we don't see it, etc. None of that helped me. My father, whom I am very close to, kept telling me it just sucked, there was no reason why a 36 year old woman should die and the best thing I could do to honor her memory was live my life and take care of my family. For some reason, that helped. I am crying as I am writing this, but feel free to FM me if you ever want to talk.

Nicole I am so sorry for your loss. I sent you an FM -- my sister works with Inez and it is so devistating for everyone.
To lose someone so young is just unfair.
