NT Results - Low PAPP-A
I met with the genetic counselor today for the results of my NT scan and I recvd so much information I feel like my head is going to explode. The good news is that we are at very low risk for DS and Trisomy 13/18. The concern is that I'm in the 5th percentile for PAPP-A, which she stated indicates placenta insufficiency. Has anyone else had this? And if so, what did you do if anything? The only thing she mentioned to me was that it's recommended that I get a sono every 4 weeks to make sure the baby is growing and developing on target. I felt like she wasn't making a big deal of it, but naturally I'm concerned.

This sounds like one of those things that's a "wait & see" if it's an issue, I wish I had more advice to give, but hopefully baby's growth is on target at your future appointments and there's no reason for concern!

Re: NT Results - Low PAPP-A
I had a low PAPP-A (10th percentile). I was told the same. They just did additional monitoring to make sure the baby was growing. All the sonograms showed he was growing but was always on the small side.
I was glad to see him so often and to know that if anything was wrong they would deliver him early and he would be fine.
He was born at 40 weeks 6lbs 13 ounces.
Good luck and try not to worry (easier said than done)

Re: NT Results - Low PAPP-A
I was told I had low Papp-A level and made the mistake of googling it. My doctor did not make a big deal of it either and explained that I would need additional monitoring after 28 weeks to monitor the fetal development. I have had sonos every 4 weeks of my pregnancy. I was freaked out bc I did make the mistake of googling it. There are different levels of low and mine is the lowest level. So far, my sonos show nothing wrong. I had my 32 week sono monday and my baby boy is measuring 4 lbs 8oz. I did buy a fetal monitor for my own sanity so I could make sure I heard his heartbeat for my paranoia days.
I have been told that the majority of women with this go on to have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. But after reading horrible stories of those that didnt, I am having an amnio done at 37 weeks to make sure his lungs are mature and if so we are having a c section on March 15. My DD was a c-section so I would have had one schedled for 39 weeks anyway. FM if you have any questions.

Re: NT Results - Low PAPP-A
I had it but it wasn't detected until it was too late. At that time they didn't do the NT scan (at least not my joke of an ob at that time). I was just told baby looked small. He wasn't growing and I had a demise around week 27/28. I found out through the pathology report that there was no blood flow due to large clots on the maternal side of the placenta. For all future pregnancies I had to and will this one will be on lovenox. Good thing for you is you will be monitored close and they caught it early!!!!

NT Results - Low PAPP-A
I had the same results. I started growth sonos every 4 weeks after my level II sono. So far everything has been great. I just received my last report and LO is 4lbs 6oz at 33 weeks. She's growing away!

NT Results - Low PAPP-A
Same results. Have been going for growth sonos every four weeks. I worried so much about it in the beginning but they're just monitoring growth and everything's been great so far all normal!

I had this too. I also had slightly abnormal results with the AFP test (spina bifida), which was another possible indication of growth issues. I had growth sonos with Maternal Fetal Medicine every 4 weeks and weekly NSTs starting at 32 weeks. DS2 was born perfectly healthy at 38w5d and was 7 lbs 11 oz.
