Nursery School for a 2 1/2 year old
I just want your opinions. I was debating on whether to send Sara to school next year. She will be 2 /12 when school starts. Her birthday is in February. Sara goes go to a babysitter but most of the kids there go to a school program part time. There is one other lttle boy her age not going to school in September. I feel like Sara should be around other little girls her age.
The hours of choice are 9 -11AM OR 9 - 12:30 .
SInce she is so young I was thinking 9 -11 is that enough time?
Any opinions are greatly appreiciated. Thanks - Shari

Re: Nursery School for a 2 1/2 year old
DD will be 2 years 4 months when she starts nursery school in September. She will be going Tues & Thurs mornings from 9:15-11:15. I think 2 hours is more than enough time for a 2 year old. At the preschool Addison is going to, there is an option to send kids until 12:30 so that they can eat lunch in school. The director only allows this option for the 3 & 4 yr olds because she feels it is to much for the little ones. Is there a way you can send her 2 hours, and if you feel it is not enough, sign up for the longer day later on in the school year?

Re: Nursery School for a 2 1/2 year old
Jeremy will be starting school in September. He will be JUST 2 when school starts. I am enrolling him 3 days a week from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM. I am due at the end of September so I want him to be around more kids and be more social that he will be at home with me and the baby. When I was working, DS would do play dates with his nanny around the neighborhood. Now that I am a SAHM, I feel like he is going to miss out on the social atmosphere by staying home with me. I am doing some mommy and me stuff but it isn't the 1x1 time he needs with other children his age. Besides, I will need "alone" time with the new baby too since I will be nursing and recovering from a c-section!

Re: Nursery School for a 2 1/2 year old
Andrew started nursery school at 2 1/2. He started at 3 mini days (10:30 to 3:30) and is bussed to and from home. Now he goes 5 days. But he was a day care baby previously, so I had no qualms about the time away from home. He is the youngest in his class (a Feb. baby also) and does great socially with the kids in his class.
I think you should start out your DD with the few hours a day and see how she adjusts.

Mallory goes to school 2 days a week from 9-11:30... and she started when she was 2 1/2 .. it was the perfect amount of time.. time enough to have fun and spend time apart from me, but not too long that she was missing me.. she LOVES it! She's learned alot from it too
