Nursing strike or weaning

DS has a cold and I think he is teething as well. He has been beside himself for 4 days. Out of nowhere last night he is refusing the breast. He screeches at the sight of them. What do you think is this weaning or just another strike?

Re: Nursing strike or weaning

DS had a cold and was also teething a few weeks ago (he's 9.5 months). He didn't want anything to do with nursing. He was so stuffy and couldn't breathe (I tried the saline drops and aspirator, steamy bathroom, etc.)

As soon as he started to feel a little better and breathe a little better he went right back to it like nothing.

I would say it's probably just a strike.

Hope your little man feels better soon!

Gonna go with strike, too. Does he have a lovey? I found that during these times, letting DD hold her lovey made it a little easier.

Probably a strike!

Loey is so odd... whenever he is sick or teething he wants to BF MORE! (and eats little to no table foods)

Evan won't eat table food at all right now. All he wants is a bottle. He was finally nursing like a champ, and now I feel like I am starting from scratch again.

So frustrating!!!

How's Evan doing with table foods? We are having WAY more failures than successes here...

Depends on the day. Some days great, other days I can barely get anything in his mouth. He loves lentil soup and guacamole, but will not eat purees, and finger foods he puts in his mouth, rolls it around and spits it out lately. Then today, somehow the kid choked on ground beef. I don't even know how you can do that, but he did.

I refuse to let food stress me out, but I am so tired of making things and just throwing them out. It is just such a waste.

That's how my DD is. She seems to not be a big fan of eating lately except for those stupid gerber puffs, that she's addicted to Chat Icon
