Re: NY Restrictions Lifted
Thanks. Now I can bug my BSA Council level people to see if this means we can camp overnight. Just about everything else is open. Of course, all of the campgrounds won't be open immediately, and if they are, there's going to be a mad rush... at this point, I'll camp in an abandoned wooded lot between two houses....

NY Restrictions Lifted
I'm glad they lifted many of the restrictions as they didn't make any sense but if it's lifted at childcare centers - why can't it be lifted at schools? I understand there is a difference between camp and school (as many camps are outside) but still.
Glad my kids won't need to mask this summer while at camp - especially running around at sports camps so much.

Does this mean no more masks (other than schools I guess?) for anyone, vaccinated or not? Does this change anything on the mask front?

The mask mandate is not changed for healthcare setting and public transportation, as well as schools

It’s very sad and we knew he would not give up the power to allow schools to unmask.

It was all an attention getter at this conference, it was disgusting. All about him no matter what he said about NYers.

Not sure if private businesses can make their own rules too. I think they will have a tougher time though as everyone is thinking they are done with masks now and don’t plan to wear them. I don’t get the mask burning crap as you still need them for certain things and to travel.

Re: NY Restrictions Lifted
So I was out to lunch with work today and we were eating at the bar of a restuarant in Bayshore. We got there early- noon- and they had just opened. All servers and bartenders were masked when I walked in. All of a sudden the owner started going around saying- that's it, take off your masks, you're vaccinated, it's enough! The bartender- who was a total sweetheart- was so excited. He was like, REALLY? OMG REALLY? And he took off his mask and his smile was infectious. I told him I was so happy to see his beautiful smile- I have been going here regularly and he's always at the bar. He was joking how he hadn't shaved today, not knowing he could take his mask off, so he had scruff. I told him it was a beautiful sight. She told everyone to take off their masks and then proceed to remove the dumb plastic partitions at the bar too. Not sure if she just heard the Cuomo news or what, but it was pretty cool to witness life go back to normal right before our eyes!

That is awesome. I know the 2 places we have gone lately both have unmasked and it is wonderful to see and be able to hear your waiter/waitress/host speaking to you.

So funny as we just got an email about people in the building (we are still working from home) and they have all the same restrictions from a year ago. I thought that was odd.

Does this mean no more masks (other than schools I guess?) for anyone, vaccinated or not? Does this change anything on the mask front?
The State's health guidelines continue to be in effect for large-scale indoor event venues, pre-K to grade 12 schools, public transit, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, nursing homes, and health care settings per CDC guidelines.
New York didn't just drop everything, the state is still requiring compliance with CDC, and unvaccinated people need to continue to wear masks. Also, the CDC said workplaces and businesses can continue to set their own guidelines which the public has to follow.

Yes this is all true.
Vaccination is not asked in most places so I am sure many who are not vaccinated won’t be wearing masks either. It’s been 4 weeks tomorrow and numbers have been very good :)

That's so awesome. It's amazing what a smile from a stranger can do. I've been making it a point to smile extra wide this past month

Will unvaccinated people ever be allowed to be maskless? If you decide to never get a Covid vaccine ever does that mean you'll be walking around in a mask until kingdom come?

Exactly. When will King Coumo allow it for unvaccinated people?

I think it’s just an unwritten thing now….wear a mask if you want and don’t wear one if you don’t want to.

You know there are those ones that will wear one until your Heinass gives them the go not to.

It just needs to end now.
What’s he waiting for? He would be an idiot to wait until the months leading up to ‘Covid season’. Now is the time to see if we have a spike.
I think there would be less resistance if he just let us make the decision. I can tell you that I would decide to wear one in certain situations if numbers were going up again during cold/flu season, and especially the holidays.
