NYC DOE PreK Teachers--Did you have to cancel any trips?
We recently found out that DOE will no longer transport PreK kids due to age and weight. So this means no more trips and OPT has canceled our PreK trips.
Did this happen to anyone? What will you do in place of the trips?

Yes - and possibly k will have to wait until january b/c now you have to be 5 to go on bus trips. Some teachers are brave and willing to take the subway (not sure I'd ever feel comfortable taking my kids on the subway unless I have 1 parent for every pair of children.)
we're toying with having the zoo, lincoln center, and other nature centers coming in to the school to do shows/teach. :/ Charge the same $ as if it was a field trip, but enough to cover the cost of a school visit.

We did a very local weekend trip instead- optional of course, and some trips within the school grounds like visiting the kitchen.
